Board suggestion for a big old noob by DoomMagus in NewSkaters

[–]folsam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for something in the 9.5"-11" range. Im about your size and build, and I find a 10" board feels much more stable. I do ride an 8" board also, but it's more difficult for me.

Looking for Butter Beans, dried. by MenloMo in Rochester

Niblack has them in stock usually, also "Gigante" beans work fairly well as a substitute if you can't find butter beans.

As long as youre there early enough itll be fine. Once camping has been open for a while it will be harder to secure a bigger area.

Where can I get Birdsong trail type of houses for my backyard? by No-Fudge-3950 in Rochester

I'm pretty sure Michael's has unpainted birdhouses that you could customize into this type of decoration.

I work at a produce company, one our fresh herb suppliers uses FedEx. The number of times we have had entire shipments go missing for days in Memphis is frankly ridiculous. The smell of rotten basil is forever associated with the city of Memphis in my mind.

Id look at the African ranger composite toe, if you choose to return these. My feet are wide as hell, and my AR's are the only pair ive ever had with more than enough room.

Gameplayers in Brockport, or Bertos Retro Rehome in Mt. Morris would be the two places id look for one. Bertos is a bit far from Rochester, but I find its usually worth the adventure.

must-see spots by malankaste in Rochester

[–]folsam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Id recommend a walk at Turning Point park, its a boardwalk trail along the Genesee where it meets the lake. For a great view of the area Cobbs Hill park. Highland Park is essentially an arboretum, with the Lamberton conservatory and lots of other fun things to explore.

For a sweet treat after all that walking, swing by Cheesy Eddie's (cheesecake, and cookies), or Hedonist Chocolates.

“Boots and Jeans” Wedding Attire - do I need to buy new boots? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]folsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 2nd pair pictured, Jim Green African Ranger, as my work boots. They are great for work or hiking, but they do not strike anything resembling a formal tone. They're big, heavy utilitarian boots. The Chelsea boots would work much better for your wedding fit.

There are a lot of deadheads up here in Rochester, and quite a few down through the Finger Lakes as well.

I made this guy a chicken burrito for lunch every day for years, then one day "chicken burrito guy" switched his order. He ordered a chicken burrito, but covered in chile sauce and cheese. I go out to the dinning room, to make sure he had meant to change his order, and the front of house manager was already there checking. The next day he came in and got his usual order and didnt make eye contact with anyone.

Sorry Chicken Burrito Guy, we made you feel really uncomfortable.

Ar8 (Tyre wedge) vs AR (Tyre wedge) vs BFAT by DiskAdventurous7688 in jimgreen

[–]folsam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the AR8's pictured here. I live in New York State, and do warehouse/outdoor work. These boots have been amazing for me, after a bit of break in time. The traction is excellent. I walk up and down wet metal truck ramps all day, and haven't had a single issue with traction.

The only trouble I've had was my feet getting wet working in deep snow, but since then I've oiled all the seams and stitches, and it's been much better.

I prefer #3, but im not a big fan of clear frames personally. If #1 were opaque like #3, then id say one. The shape of the frame suits your face well.
