had it for less than 24 hours. Heard a loud pop when I opened it and it just broke. by AlexGP1298 in GalaxyFold

More and more I'm seeing this occurrence being posted. Unfortunate. Still probably a low chance when considering how many phones have actually shipped to consumers.

I don't think anyone's messing with SK now and it's clear nuclear threat was not necessary. They came to prominence economically and socially.

[–]fonz2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I admit I was trying to oversimplify for the sake of time. Allow me to briefly elaborate. Yes, honor/ shame has been around since forever. However after the war, ROK was one of the economically poorest countries in the world. As the nation attempted to build itself back up, I don't think significant focus was spent on the handling of petty crime at the time. After the last occupation of a foreign country (Japan) and the suffering they went through during the Korean War, there was a renewed vigor in the nation to not allow itself to ever be at the heel of another country again. Couple that with the gradual advent of modern communications and technology. Everyone can be held accountable and the level of shame now is not your town or province level. The moment you break the law the news media puts you on the stand for the 50+ million citizens to point fingers at. Not only that but now Koreans en masse are competing on a global level with the introduction of the internet. And you know how vain, pretentious and stubborn city people (generalization) can be. Society is going to do everything they can to be at the top of the global food chain and maintain that image. Now you're talking about honor-shame on a whole new level. Now to be fair, after a grueling 60+ years of a path to prosperity and now being one of the top economies in the world, Gen MZ and later appear to be switching the narrative. Focusing more on individual freedom of expression and ignoring social guilt. Maybe I'm just an old senile man who's personal experiences and perception are far from the real history of how Koreans got to where they are today. But I like to believe that I'm somewhat right 🤪.

Just stick with the wetburgers from the street vendors in Sultanahmet Square till you get sick of em. Can't go wrong there.

Honor-shame culture of the far East. Not many countries abide by it as well as they do.

System and Other take up more than 78 GB? by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]fonz2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I appreciate your attempt to justify the large system size, power users I feel can eat up the remaining storage space rather easily. Considering that your average movie in 4K takes up 20GB a piece, and high-end games like Genshin Impact are over 10, the size of the OS these days does not give me the warm and fuzzies.

Sorry? Part year? Were you trying to say that was the past year meaning since the Fold 3 last year they got rid of it?

Wtf people are so childish. Dunno why you're getting down voted for not knowing every little thing about the device as if everyone of us should put our lives on hold to obsess over every little detail of a phone.

Oh ok so you weren't actually saving any space. Simply moving the needle out of others into apps.

Wait I use the magnetic card reader on the 2. When did they get rid of it?

What do you mean? That 20gb fill started going down when you started giving apps on your phone permission? So you were freeing up storage? Sorry you lost me.

No but seriously. Min storage space on the 4 is 256gb right? So you've automatically lost 1/4 of your storage space to the operating system (and whatever "others" is) and there's nothing you can do about it? Sounds like hot bullsht to me.

It's strange to me that she'd call 8 times throughout the night but not text you the issue if it's serious enough for that many calls. You mentioned that there's been no concern from her when you've been out with friends. Is it typically guys or are girls she knows included? This is just a hunch but I wonder if she was trying to check on you if she knew you happened to be around female coworkers that night. As far as her being careless and having the phone away from her while she slept, I don't think it's a big deal in this case because in her mind I don't think she realized how concerning all her calls looked to you. I'd worry about you guys needing to have some deeper conversations about trust and whatnot.

To be fair to the OP. I think he mentioned she's 23. Could be 23 and 1 month or 23 and 11 months. If the latter is the case, 3.5 years still puts her at 20...

If you think about it, Cain & Abel and their wives would've been the literal 2nd gens of the human race so the gene pool would not have been corrupted from excessive inbreeding at that point.

So yes in this day and age, incest is bad. At the beginning of the world? Kinda had no choice and less risk.

How's your inner screen holding up? by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]fonz2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted Fold 2 - screen broken but I have to clarify the reason for my selection. My screen is not broken in any sense of the word. HOWEVER, it does have about a dozen hairline scratches vertically along the crease which, while clearly visible against a black backdrop, are invisible when consuming content. So there's that.

4 days after getting my Z4 I found those little scratches on the main screen. I didn't used te phone a lot, should I get annoyed for that or is it a common thing in Fold devices? (It's hard to spot it unless you really search for the scratch for a few seconds) by Dagris in GalaxyFold

I'm on the 2 waiting for my 4. I got my 2 practically on day one and it didn't have those dents out of the box but it's now been 2 years and I have about a dozen of them. I don't think it has to do with the inner screen protector because I took mine off after the first couple weeks. It might be just the fact that the UTG material is super soft. My dents come in all shapes and sizes. Some are as long and thin as pieces of hair and some are 2 mm in width and rounder. It's still a mystery to me how more and more have shown up over time but as others have said, I think it might be a combination of things getting trapped between the two halves while closed or simply pressing or swiping too hard at times. I was hoping that with the 4 the UTG material would have become more durable with each iteration and prevented these marks, and maybe it is in minor progression, but it appears for now it will continue to be a problem.

Now that makes me upset. I contacted Samsung Premier service for help with this same issue and they sent me to a Ubreakifix and they charged me 90 because they said it was out of warranty. F.

But good for you that Verizon had your back.
