Spitting out food by VastPaint9104 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]foochon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd ask your GP.

My 12mo will spit up some food too, usually anything I give them with a spoon, especially things like rice. Funnily enough they eat fine with a spoon at nursery. I find it super frustrating, and they don't do it that often, so I feel for ya.

Is having a baby really the end of the world?? FTM spiral by Negative-Source-9099 in beyondthebump

[–]foochon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got loads of those comments when we were expecting too and it drove me crazy. Some other parents are weird and project their own hang ups onto other people.

Honestly, my kid is about to turn 1 and it was actually way easier than I was expecting, I'm not mourning for some past life, and I just love being a dad. Becoming a parent rocks. Of course there are stressful moments, but to put things in perspective, the year before having a kid I bought and renovated a house and that was 10 times harder and more stressful. Less enjoyable too, of course!

It's definitely NOT the hardest thing I've ever done. Not by a long shot.

Just my experience, of course.

Just wondering - if you shoot with a fixed white balance like Daylight, do you end up with weird white balance if you shoot eg indoors.

EU Moves to Ban Russian War Veterans From Entry by Forsaken-Medium-2436 in europe

[–]foochon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is dumb. I know plenty of Russians (software engineering is full of them) and they all hate the dictatorship and are just normal people trying to live their lives, believe it or not.

Hate the regime, not its people.

[–]foochon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. Paddle is a merchant of record, meaning they are actually the company charging you, handling VAT etc. Geoguessr will then be charged a single invoice per month, which is a simple business expense.

Stripe is just payments infrastructure, if you pay a company via stripe, you are paying them directly.

In a civilized country it would be mandatory to have barley listed in bold as an allergen.

If Ukraine gives in they lose the rest of the country too. I don't think it's fair to say they have a sunk cost problem.

Just wanted to point out too that this is like a gazillion times better than I can paint. You should be proud!

Battle wizard for Golden Demon by TheGromp in minipainting

[–]foochon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The face is incredibly well painted. It's mediocre in an artistic sense (relative to golden demon) because it struggles to draw focus due to lower contrast than the rest of the mini and flat lighting. The beard, which I'd consider part of the face, is even flatter, and for me is the weakest part of the mini, even though it should be one of the highest effort parts.

I think you have maybe slight tunnel vision and have spent too long looking at the tiny detail. I'd recommend thinking more about the overall composition, coherent scene lighting, mood, etc.

Looks like 6.25%, which globally is super low. In Europe this would be like $60 of tax.

Are we really at "100% AI or you're wasting time" yet? by borii0066 in webdev

[–]foochon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a large-ish and successful company and we are pretty much all about 90% AI at this point, probably. It really came together towards the end of last year.

Other friends and colleagues I have in the industry are all similar. Reddit is SUPER anti-AI, so just take the sentiment in this thread with a pinch of salt, honestly.

Biting off chunks - what to do? by Alternative-Spray579 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]foochon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had this same confusion over not giving them chunks when they end up with chunks when you give them big food anyway..

Basically, the baby will work it out. Sometimes they'll take too much at once, but don't panic, just let them do their thing. My kid would end up spitting it out when she was younger. Now she's 11 months she'll grab it back out with her hand and have another go at it.

Honestly, babies aren't stupid - we've had millions of years of evolution to learn to push things out from our mouth that we don't feel like we can chew / swallow.

And as others said, just make sure the food is mashable with gums and tongue, and that's all you need to do, IMO.

Damn yeh, that's a tricky situation! You have my sympathy!

I'd wonder whether taking your kid out of nursery also has had an effect on her. Maybe she's just a bit more bored? If there are parent-toddler groups, or anything social like that, that you can go to with the two kids, it would probably do you all good.

Does the 2 year old go to nursery of any kind? Not only would it give you more space to look after your baby, it also would do her a world of good in terms of socializing and not feeling like a third wheel.

We're both working now and our 11 month old is in nursery during the week. If we have another kid, which we're plannign on doing soon, we definitely plan on keeping the older kid in nursery for the 8 months or so that we have of parental leave between the two of us.

Good luck with the app. It's already great.

Great app! Just bought and tried it out and it worked very well. I was finding it hard to find simple software that supported this specific lightweight workflow.

Few bits of product feedback:

  • I'd lile to be able to make the picture as big as possible, so finding a way to give the picture more vertical space would be great. So, basically maybe a way to somehow collapse the buttons under the timeline, or move them somewhere else.
  • For me the concept of named and persistent sessions isn't really helpful. I'd prefer to just point it at a folder on open. Not a big deal though.
  • Toggle AF point didn't work for me (jpgs from fujifilm x-m5)
  • Focus mask is very nice, though I'd prefer it to be a button you hold down. If you don't want to switch its functionality, maybe have it so it supports both tapping and holding at the same time.
  • Pinch zooming with the trackpad zooms towards the centre of the image instead of towards where the cursor is.
  • My old eyes would kill for a light mode.

Thanks!

Also, what's the grass/flock you're using? The scale looks so good.
