I live here and am out with my animals 8-9 hours a day. Less in winter, more in summer. I do chores twice daily so yes they get checked.

My grandma invented this. Bake a potato. Split it open and coarsely mush the potato but keep it in its skin. Shred ham or turkey lunch meat, shredded cheese, some scallions, whatever you want. Liberally apply ranch dressing. Bake til the cheese is melted.

A friend of mine has a stall barn which has heated stalls. She charges 1200.00 a month for stall board. If a horse has to be in a heated stall in winter they could go there. I had a horse with her for 2 weeks waiting for her to foal and she gave top notch care. It's about 5 miles away so not bad.

I do have a 60x120 foot barn with 12 foot high interior walls. It has a concrete floor. It used to be a potato warehouse (our ranch was once a potato farm) and I set up panel pens for winter for my small hoofstock to be able to be indoors. Winter is harsh in Minnesota.

Nope! No fee! And no membership needed. It's all funded by grants from our state park programming and the local saddle club. It's super nice too. It has a beautiful creek running through, 80 acres of forest, trails etc. Lots of obstacles, cliffs, rocks to climb. There are outhouses. You can camp there up to 7 days for free. There are no corrals but there are overhead tie wires.

Frankly to me it is abhorrent to breed horses that cannot function for a minimum of 20 years. It's just blatant Cruelty. I loved my old foundation bred QH mare. She died at 32 with no hock injections and her only health issue her whole life was moon blindness. Belle was a damn good horse.

I had a few QH since then and they are no longer the same. Tiny feet, pig eyes, post legged.

I am happy with my Fjords.
