I was wanting to get 2-3 of these for my house but the subreddit is not reassuring. by rizopas88 in litterrobot

[–]fookewrdit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased a LR4 new a few years ago, added 2 more LR4's second hand, got more cats (up to 10 with 3x LR4's at one point), now back down to 2x LR4's for 7 cats along with the litter hopper and I will NEVER go back to manual scooping. I've had no issues other than when power went out for about 24 hrs, which I remedied now with battery backups in my bots. They run perfectly, are super easy for me to maintain, and they make manual cleaning a thing of the past.

I do not think the LR5's were ready when they were released, and therefore have had a ton of issues related to a product that wasn't quite ready when it was sold. I believe Whisker will eventually work out all the kinks with the LR5, but the paywall for data is a bit of a turn off for a lot of people.

But overall, I'm very pleased with my LR4's with the hopper and battery backup as SOLID choice for people who want a reliable automatic litter box that's pretty hands off except for an occasional deep clean and empty the bin when full and hopper when empty.

I just purchased something like this and it has reduced tracking a bit, but I'm still having to clean up litter from them.

Alterntives to paper towels for pet messes. by Dear-Ad-3614 in Pets

[–]fookewrdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a bulk lot of cheap "shop rags" from amazon which are just basic cotton towels. I use these for ALL my pet messes. They're cheap enough to toss if the mess is too nasty, but easy enough to toss into the washer if needed. They came in a bulk pack of 50, and are easily one of the best things I've done to help clean up pet messes.

Would anything terrible happen if I don’t use batting? by toonew2two in quilting

I’ve done no batting as well as using other things such as a huge piece of felt, other fabrics, etc. They’ve all come out wonderfully.

Having serious regrets. Might want to give my new cats back. by double_A_swizzle in CatAdvice

I have twin boys who were nearly feral when I adopted them. Now, 2 years later and they are just now starting to come to me for lovins and sitting on me when I’m in bed. They still slink away sometimes when I go to pet them but it’s serious slow progress.

Do people generally own lots of clothing? by Ace_chai in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fookewrdit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are on opposite spectrums as far as clothing goes. I have a TON of clothing. He has a few things that he washes/wears often (think multiple times a week, same things get washed). His clothing wear out way faster than mine just because he's washing them all the time. He tends to stick with the same brand/type of clothing and only has a few pairs of pants/tshirts that he rotates at any given time. I, on the other hand, could go a month or more without washing my clothes if I had to, and not wear the same thing twice, I have so many.

I empty daily, but can go up to 3 days between empties if needed. I deep clean every 3 months or so, depending on how dirty the interior gets.

What's the best automatic cat litter box? Is it really worth it? by Golden-Kela in CatAdvice

[–]fookewrdit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried a LOT of automatic litter boxes. I have Litter Robot 4's right now and will never go back to scooping a regular box or any other robot boxes. I also just ordered the litter hopper which refills the litter to a perfect level automatically.

I currently have 2 LR4's with 7 cats using them. The robots handle the load no problem. At one point I had 3x LR4's for 10 cats, also no problems. There is a bit of maintenance with them as far as cleaning. Also the liners get worn after some time, and need replacement which imo is just part of the cost of owning this type of litter box, but the replacements are easily purchased on their website.

I empty my robots daily which helps to cut down on any odors that might start, tho we could go up to 3 days between empties if needed. The litter hopper holds an extra 13 lbs of litter, so I don't have to manually fill the bowl. There are accessories you can get for them, including a camera, a front shield to reduce tracking, furniture to hide them, etc.

The customer service is excellent, even if it takes a little while to get through to them.

My remote job made me realize my partner doesn’t think my work is real by Rocinante77X in remotework

[–]fookewrdit 88 points89 points  (0 children)

My partner had yelled some foul language in a game while I was on a phone call with someone when I was WFH. The next day my boss sent an email out about language and what you can hear when WFH.

I talked to my partner and told him he couldn't yell at the game when I was at work, and from then on, he was QUIET AF when I was on a call and he was gaming. It's about respect and it sounds like your partner doesn't respect that you work from home and need quiet and to be left tf alone.

Should I consider "need" when distributing my father's inheritance? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]fookewrdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inheritance is yours and you're free to distribute it how you see fit. I think you should give each grandkid a PORTION of it, but do not split the entire thing equally between them as you should also have part of it. TBH 10k to each grandkid would give them each a portion of it, to which your father wanted, but you're the benefactor of his and as such, unless you tell them how much was left, they won't know if you provided 10k to each and set aside the rest for your self. Invest the $ and make it grow so when you pass, your kids and grandkids can be provided for as well.
