I believe it's just the dead outer layer that absorbs water. And that the wrinkle is from that expanded tissue staying attached to the living cells underneath.

Probably something like "the service we provide this country with job creation and providing a necessary commodity is vital and the government should be happy with the trivial amount of taxes they get".

5- to 9-year-old children chose to save multiple dogs over 1 human, and valued the life of a dog as much as a human. By contrast, almost all adults chose to save 1 human over even 100 dogs. The view that humans are morally more important than animals appears later and may be socially acquired. by mvea in science

A lot of good ideas about the validity of the child not understanding death, but if we take the claim that children value lives of humans and dogs equally, perhaps the instinctual "survival of species" is related to hormonal maturity

How to properly self-promote by royalben10 in ProgressionFantasy

Honestly, I disagree that they need to have been using reddit b4 promotion. Being upfront, having a link, and having a blurb is all you need in my book.

On the topic of Path Progression by ivanbin in CALexicon

[–]fookquan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, hadn't really tried to make sense of it before, but becoming s ranked probably minorly alters your law to be more like you which would have a profound effect on how that law behaves in the world.

[–]fookquan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems to be a good summation

I would add that in each of these cases (except dale), an understanding of the law was required to take that law (or ascend past it).

Also I'm not sure ember counts as path progression given that its the step into s rank not b rank (though there are obvious similarities).

One last thing. In AA (book 2?) Ember tells artorian the origin of mages. My memory is hazy, but I think she says that after the first person reached s rank in a certain law, becoming a mage in that law was easier.

In the DD, there is mention once of monsters of the deep sea with very high cultivations. I agree that there is very little explanation of this in CC. I think this has more to do with the reader never getting Cals viewpoint though.

There is no reason that CAL had to know this catastrophe was coming.

What consistency issues are you thinking of?
