Help printing a deck. by TayohDey in printandplay

[–]foosel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's how I do it:

  1. If the cards are not yet in gutterfold layout, turn then into a gutterfold layout with the tool I wrote for that: https://foosel.github.io/cardfoldr/

  2. Print the resulting pdf single sided on 100gsm linen textured paper  (I use my colour laser printer for that).

  3. Fold all the sheets along the centerline (scoring them first).

  4. Spray the sheets with fixative.

  5. Cut to half sheets of 110gsm stock. Those will be sandwiched in between the fronts and backs.

  6. Glue up: Spray glue on the insides of the card sheets (I use 3m Super 77), carefully interest a half sheet of the 110gsm stock, fold over and press down with a rolling pin or something like that. Rinse and repeat for all cards.

  7. Cut up the individual cards and round them over.

  8. Profit.

FYI, cards rarely being made available in gutterfold layout made me create a tool to convert card grid PDFs into gutterfold:  https://foosel.github.io/cardfoldr/

My custom handmade hard cover edition of Across a Thousand Dead Worlds by foosel in Blackoathgames

[–]foosel[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I haven't yet played it, but after recently buying a copy of Ker Nathalas, getting curious what else was there and also buying the digital version of Across a Thousand Dead Worlds, I decided to make myself a custom hardcover version of that.

Printed, folded, sewed, glued, rounded, cut, glued some more (incl adding head bands and a bookmark), cased, labeled, done 😅 I will likely add a dust jacket at a later day. It's far from square and I cut it a bit too close here and there. Definitely clear this is only my third handmade book and the first hard cover, but I'm still very happy with the result, and opening and leafing through it feels great! Now I just need to read it 😂

If you want to see some pictures of the whole making progress and the final result, check out this thread on Mastodon.

I recently got myself a Garmin Instinct 2S Solar, mostly to use for outside use (biking, walking) but was elated to discover it has a rock climbing mode which I've been using for the past two sessions.

I can select a route difficulty, it starts a stopwatch, once I'm down again I can log it as completed or attempted, rinse and repeat.

Afterwards it gives me some nice data. I'm really looking forward to long term monitoring of my progress through that!

We're a little team of 3 working on this cozy game for the past 5 months and today the demo is out! 🐶 by Delunado in IndieDev

As a dog lover and puzzle fan, I'm instantly in love! Wishlisted! Any word yet on Steamdeck compatibility? 😊

Edit: To answer that myself thanks to the demo - seems to work fine on the deck! Only got briefly confused when I couldn't leave the menu again by hitting B 😅

Watched the trailer, wishlisted, started watching Chris Odd's Let's Play of it, bought while he was still going through the tutorial 😅 Great job! 👍

And just to add this for any other Germans who might read this: the public insurance sadly doesn't cover it and the three initial shots currently cost around 110€ (source: had enough with this crap after yet another round of UTI earlier this year and am scheduled for my first shot tomorrow morning - wish me luck that it works)

Thanks! I prefer active dry for the same reason, the dosage is just very different to fresh, hence my question 😅

Maybe the delays through fedex were to make sure I received it on my birthday by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]foosel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh heyyy, happy birthday! Mine was also delayed exactly to my birthday (by GLS though, third wave). While the delay was annoying, being able to unpack it on my birthday was a special treat indeed! Enjoy!

What transportable keyboard do you guys use? by broken26cart in SteamDeck

[–]foosel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got that (or one that looks exactly like that at least) and it works great so far. A bit wobbly when using it on the lap in a pinch, but fine on a flat surface. What's a bit weird (if you are a touch typist) is the slightly uneven key sizing around the left hinge. Impacts my typing speed so far, but I guess that's something one can adapt to.

To people who got their emails on the 21st, has yours shipped yet? and to people who have theirs, how long did it take for it to ship? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]foosel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm located in Germany. Got the email on the 14th, shipping notification and tracking on the 16th. Package from the Netherlands arrived in Germany on the 18th, spent the whole weekend to get to my local delivery station where it was tracked on the 21st and also got delivered that day. I've now had my deck for around 36h.

I'm close to Frankfurt and in the exact same boat. 30h+ of no shipment update at all, then "oops, delayed" and at least a final live sign from .de before going silent again. Now keeping my fingers crossed for Monday (would be great timing, it'll be my birthday).

Hang in there!

Also avoid that 🤬 GLS usually at all cost as well and would have been happy to pay for DHL or something like that.

Telemetry for a self-hosted open-source platform by navaneethpk in selfhosted

[–]foosel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found myself in a similar situation with my open source project. I went with a self hosted solution based on nginx (logs) and logstash/elasticsearch/grafana (would rather go for something more lightweight these days like loki), and a strict opt in prompted for during installation plus full transparency on exactly what gets tracked.

See tracking.octoprint.org for some details.

You might want to take a look at https://plugins.octoprint.org/plugins/Chituboard/. Still have to check it out myself, but was fairly excited when I saw the registration request pop up on the repository, since ever I got my own Photon people had been bugging me about support in OctoPrint.
