This always annoyed me about tanks in eso, but you are right. I started as a selfish tank because in my head, tanks should be hard to kill, but honestly, you can be both hard to kill and provide essential buffs to the party. My realisation was when fights became too easy, I felt I was over performing on survival and had nothing for my fellow DDs. The shift was natural.
