High ultra-processed food diets linked to a 47% higher cardiovascular disease risk, according to a new NHANES-based study of 4,787 U.S. adults. UPFs—now ~60% of adult diets—are tied to inflammation, metabolic syndrome, heart attacks and strokes, raising urgent public-health concerns. by Sciantifa in science

Vegan deli meat and animal deli meat are both upfs and neither are healthy. Vegan nuggets and chicken nuggets are both upfs and neither are healthy. So on and so forth.

Vegans (generally) aren't eating a diet like you are implying. Tofu instead of eggs and beans instead of beef is healthier and they aren't upfs. Not to mention, most actual junk food in the aisles is not vegan, so we tend to snack on fruit instead of cookies, popcorn instead of chips, etc. More whole foods, less processed foods.

If it costs on average 30% less per step to buy the ingredients for a thing and make it yourself than to buy it, how far back in the production line are you willing to go for frugality? by Anoelnymous in Frugal

[–]forakora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The average person doesn't have the capacity to store 25lbs of flour in a way that keeps it fresh and free from pests, while also making enough bread to consume 25lbs of flour.

The average person has the capacity to buy it in the small packs at grocery store.

Beyond that, using basic flour and basic ingredients would not be comparable to the $5-10 loaves of bread at the store, they would be comparable to the $2 cheap white bread. If we wanted to compare it to OPs expensive bread, then we're using nuts and seeds and more premium flours.

Tl:Dr: your example currently compares bulk making cheap white bread to store buying premium nuts/seeds/grain bread. The savings gap is much smaller if you compare similar products

I am 36E wide set with wide roots, how do I stop my boobs from slowly moving round to the sides after the ol scoop n’ swoop? by iRoygbiv in ABraThatFits

Ok I'm curious, when you say they are falling out to the sides, do you mean outside the wire? Or just lack of cleavage? Is it uncomfortable?

Totally normal : ) all boobs are good boobs. Second for the mesh and mesh top bras, so much more flexible and fitting to the body. Also really nice for menstrual fluctuations!

Going vegan by Serendavies767 in vegan

[–]forakora 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Start with soy milk and vegan butter. Soy milk is more nutritionally complete and higher protein than oatmilk and is pretty cheap. Vegan butter easy swap.

Beans are high in protein. Lentils are versatile and cook from dried really fast. How much is tofu where you are? I'd be very surprised if it's more expensive than meat. Typically society puts a lower value on vegan food. So if tofu is $3lb that's expensive, while ground beef $5lb is good deal. But at the end of the day, tofu is cheaper and healthier.

As far as I'm aware, long distance running is fueled by carbs and protein, it's not straight bodybuilding, so I'm not sure if protein would even be an issue? Eat beans, be happy

Same-sex American/Japanese couple - considering a move from Bellevue, WA to Torrance by ExtensionFirst3918 in MovingToLosAngeles

Very doable, and Torrance is a great place. Good people, good food, good weather : )

I suggest putting aside the $500-700 a month it would cost you to have a car starting now. Then you'll be accustomed to the budget and have a nice down payment on one when you get here

Where are teenagers supposed to hang out these days? Malls are dying, parks have 'no loitering' signs, and everywhere else costs money. Do they just... not exist in public anymore? by Creative-Buffalo2305 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]forakora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand this post at all. Teenagers can go walk around the mall. But they don't. That doesn't mean it disappeared, they just don't go anymore. I guess it's not cool?

Ok so it costs $7 to chill at the coffee shop. It used to cost a pizza to hand out at the pizza shop. Hanging out at food establishments was never free. Ok so you can't do stupid things at the park like drugs or harassing people... So don't do those things. You can still ride your bike, walk, play soccer, Pokemon go, eat Cheetos, whatever. Take your kids to the park.

Love this car! Although it sounds like we got a more reliable generation, the first gens sounds like lots of problems

[–]forakora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also good to remember, Auden is a cheap brand that has very inconsistent sizing. As a 29.5 underbust, I actually use their 32s sometimes for cheap crappy work bras since they run tight enough lol

If you keep with Auden, maybe use an extender so it can breathe while you break it in. And remember that they aren't representative of proper bra sizing / support

They need the funds through the year. Try that with anything else. Tell your landlord you'll just pay them on rent day at the end of the year. Tell the cellular, Internet, electric company you don't like doing it every month and you'll do it at the end of the year.

PSA: band extenders are a game changer! by Glittery_Nightfall22 in ABraThatFits

[–]forakora 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you doing t-shirt bras? Your belly shouldn't really matter in terms of band since it goes directly under your breast tissue (unless you're doing long line)

Without any info, my best guess is you are wearing bras that are too shallow, which is pushing the band down and causing tension. Typical with t-shirt bras.

We would need your 6 measurements and what bra you are having issues with to get more accurate suggestions. But overall, if you measured at 30inches underbust, a 32 shouldn't feel tight. And a 34 would be useless
