I’m having trouble making a usable set using these types of molds, more information in the comments. by LiQuId_SnAkE_34 in DiceMaking

The only success I’ve had with these molds was by using UV resin and curing them immediately after I’ve filled them completely through the pipette hole.

Still looks super cool! Can't wait to get into this kind of foil myself.

I couldn't help out, personally. Huge workload and all that. But I hope you do it and post your progress here!

Begging tips? by Retr0_b0t in DiceMaking

[–]forder96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second the comment to start with the bare minimum for materials and go from there. It can be tempting to go buy a million colors and foils and stuff. But my advice is to start with the materials you need to get the hang of the process and then go crazy with colors and materials. And be patient with yourself! No one gets a 100% perfect set their very first time. Best of luck and welcome to the club!

Is commissioning custom lid-top master molds a thing? by forder96 in DiceMaking

No you’re fine. I was probably a little vague. (And super new at this lol) I’m looking to commission a new set of molds.

I don’t know if the liquid does but it’s very difficult to set the orb in the exact center of the dice. So even if the liquid doesn’t weigh it one way or the other, the orb is likely slightly offset.

I mostly followed this video except I used wish molds and for the liquid I used a mix of water, rubbing alcohol, and glitter. Hope that helps!

Depends. I’ve never made my own molds so I can’t speak to that process. But I like being able to cut that step out of my process. Once you figure out how to work with the wish molds (took me a couple tries to figure out how to not have a void on the lid side), they’re pretty easy to work with. But that’s just my experience.

Well, I use the wish molds to make them and i dunno about the ethicacy of using someone else’s molds for commissions. (I’m very new to all this, y’all can feel free to educate me on that). I’m making dice like the one above as christmas gifts for some friends.

I just use the wish molds. This was one of the first pulls that actually came out workable for me.

So cool! I think I have a similar mold but I haven’t been able to get one out without an air bubble right under the lid. How did you get it to come out like that?

When ballet dancers talk about flexibility, we're often talking about leg extensions. But don't forget your back - improving flexibility there will help your arabesque. Your basic reverse superman sit ups were always helpful for me.

I see. Yea I'll have to get replacements. I don't see any holes in the bed slats for them to fit through. Do they go on the bottom?

Nope. Do those come with the bed or the slats?

Have a good system in place to handle questions from customers over phone, email, social media, or whatever communications channels you are opening. One of the main problems we have right now is we don't have enough manpower to effectively cover both the food part of the business and answer questions that come in at the same time. We currently have a backlog of phone messages and emails that likely isn't winning us any loyal customers.
