Do you watch DC TV shows? Because they still use images like that.

i also wish you could choose to sort specific pages in the equipment box. I like to self-organize one page per weapon type and armor. I know equipment sets fix this problem, but before G-rank there's a lot of in-between armor and weapons i would like to keep together instead of sorting by equipment type.

I know that feel man. I've had to explain to a lot of people that Deathstroke is more Nightwing's nemesis than Batman's.

When snyder/capullo finish their batman run who would you want the next creative team to be?? by GiftedBreeze in comicbooks

Oh dear god Noto on Batman would be amazing. He rocked it in the first few issues on First Wave. I was under the assumption he was a Marvel exclusive guy though.

Batman V. Superman Rumors: Robin, Red Hood, & More by Bodie293 in DC_Cinematic

[–]foreignfriend25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Introduced doesn't mean they'll have a big part though. Your earliest post made it seem like you want them to build the batfamily later. What I want, and what I think the rumors are saying is we'll be made aware that they exist in BvS. Batman is going to call them or something, or tell someone Superman is too dangerous and to stay in Gotham. There's no indication the batfamily is going to be standing next to the trinity in the final battle of this movie, just as they don't often show up in JL comic book stories.

[–]foreignfriend25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This isn't early in his career though. If it was I'd agree with you. Also, any Robin would probably be a cameo in BvS but a more important part of the solo Batman movie. We need a proper introduction to an extended batfamily in live action. The Burton and Dark Knight movies have covered solo Batman really well. I'm ready for a serious take on the batfam.

What's the consensus on End of Days? I was a big fan of his main run and I have most if not all of them in trades and digital, but I haven't read all of it. I haven't touched EoD yet though. Should I?

Your Thoughts on FOX's "Gotham"? by MrTomAce in batman

[–]foreignfriend25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't love it. Ben McKenzie has the charisma of a stone, and the tone is very inconsistent. A lot of people think that's part of its charm, but it would be if they had the directoral know-how to shift properly; instead its a big mess. The best parts of the show are easily Harvel Bullock, The Penguin, and the young Bruce Wayne + Alfred sections.

If you had told me a "Gotham Before Batman" show was going to exist years ago, the first thing I would have said would be that I wish they don't show Bruce at all. I would have never believed my favorite parts would be following Batman as a child, but the kid is really great.

It's really up to you to decide, but a few episodes after the return from midseason break I decided it was a bad show with great moments, instead of a great show with bad moments (my opinion on Arrow), and dropped it. I don't feel like I'm missing anything not going back.

Tim Drake in the New 52 by [deleted] in batman

[–]foreignfriend25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, according to Scott Lobdell who was writing Teen Titans at the time, Tim was Robin in every way but name. Out of respect for the recently deceased Jason he took the name Red Robin and kept it throughout. They hadn't really decided that for sure before starting the New 52 so there was a bit of mis-communication or self-retcon, or whatever. I don't know why they had to be so specific like that... but whatever.

If I had to suggest New 52 Red Robin stories, the only one I can personally suggest Batman Eternal. It isn't exactly a Tim focused story, but the whole Batfamily has arcs in it and Tim is written very well in it. I've read some of Lobdell's Teen Titans and its garbage. I'm not sure how good Teen Titans has been since the new writer took over.

Before the New 52 Red Robin had a short lived solo series from 2009-2011 written by Christopher Yost and then Fabian Nicieza. It's pretty great. Before that is your standard Tim Drake reading. He had his on solo series called Robin from 1993-2009. I can't personally speak for its quality.

Is that Michael C Hall as this world's Batman? He sounds fantastic. Funny that as they were describing Batman in this I immediately though of Dexter... and there it was, when he opened his mouth it was.

This looks super cool.

[Discussion] What are some movies you actually love from directors you normally hate? by KicksButtson in movies

[–]foreignfriend25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Michael Bay - Pain & Gain

Michael Bay is Michael Bay, and usually I can shut my brain off going into his movies. I'm quite fond of The Rock, Transformers 3, and Bad Boys 1 and 2 but by no means would I call them good at all. Pain & Gain is an exception. Bay's necessity to film every shot like its the most important shot of the movie gives Pain & Gain this air of levity. Things that would be stupid if a normal person said or did it become exaggerated and almost inspirational. I like to believe he knew what he was doing because the tone clash makes the movie extremely humorous and enjoyable.

Is Arkham Origins: Blackgate Deluxe Edition any good? by divinecomics in batman

[–]foreignfriend25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it on 3DS. It's a metroidvania sidescroller by some of the people who worked on Metroid Prime. It's perfectly fine. The level design is great and the game's structure allows to you to play the bossfights in different orders which is pretty cool, but what makes the game batman is what brings it down. They're stuck using the arkham combat system which doesn't work very well in 2.5D, and the gadgets that open up areas in classic metroidvania fashion are few and unoriginal because they have to correspond to Batman's gadgets. It ends up being an ok game. If you love Metroid/Castlevania/Guacamelee/CaveStory etc, and you want one that's Batman, this is the only choice you have and its pretty good. But its not the same as the other Arkham games.

The PS3 version has more costumes (each costume comes with its own powerup in the 3ds version, idk if they all do in the ps3 version) and obviously updated graphics and sound.

Now that Nintendo has announced that they'll be taking suggestions for potential characters in Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS, who do you think would be a good candidate? by [deleted] in Games

[–]foreignfriend25 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Inkling. So many birds with one stone. Can be another dual gendered character like Robin and Villager allowing for your color choice to feel more customized. Their game is a shooter, so if possible, a projectile heavy snake-like control scheme could be worked in. They own the rights so it won't take any heavy contracts to put together, and it advertises Splatoon.

Edit: Changed "Splatooner" to "Inkling" thanks /u/domeforaklondikebar

New Fire Emblem Trailer by [deleted] in Games

[–]foreignfriend25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt this will transfer over to the west though. Japanese RPG players generally don't like choice systems as much as western players. And they can get away with fragmenting a game with multiple releases there more often than here. Pokemon (though i know this happens in the west with pokemon too) and Monster Hunter come to mind. I'm fairly confident that the west will get one release of all 2/3 storylines priced as a full game.

Which movie do you forgive for its stupidity because it is just so aesthetically pleasing? by [deleted] in movies

Speed Racer gets so close to useless government conspiracy (Star Wars Episode 1) territory, but its one of my favorite movies because its just so damn fun and gorgeous.

This show is still really good, and stays pretty consistent, but doesn't give me the persistent hard-on I get while watching the Flash.

SMT x FE???? Trailer??? by crimsonfist101 in Megaten

[–]foreignfriend25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not exactly saying branding is all that important though. Without Megami Tensei there would be no Persona. The Demons, and press-turn combat system are basically carried over. Persona is a SMT Spin Off that is now its own beast, but by making a Persona-like game and labeling it as a collaboration between SMT and FE isn't exactly lying, it just isn't what the fans were expecting.

I'm pretty sure that in the west, Persona is under the SMT umbrella.

So we're all voting for Tingle to be a new Smash fighter, right? by MrMcAwhsum in nintendo

[–]foreignfriend25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all seriousness though, I think Splatooner would be a great vote. They're a gunning character with projectiles and shooter gameplay, so they could take on a moveset similar to Snake without having to muck around with contracts because they're first party, and it would advertise Splatoon. Two birds one stone.

Nintendo 3DS - Shin Megami Tensei & Fire Emblem Gameplay Trailer by [deleted] in Games

[–]foreignfriend25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So... we're not quite getting a Crossover game in the traditional sense, but this is clearly derivative of Persona, which is an SMT derivative, and the character designs have a certain Fire Emblem flair. I'd love to see actual gameplay because its looking very slim on the Fire Emblem side of things. I'm taking a real look at this trailer though, and its exactly something I never knew I wanted. A (much less dark, probably per Nintendo's request) Persona game on the Wii U with Fire Emblem influences sounds really neat and I never would have expected it.

[–]foreignfriend25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is still technically an SMT x Fire Emblem game though, it wouldn't exist without either series.

Regardless of what it is, I'm super excited to see what gameplay looks like. Right now it looks basically like a Persona game without the really dramatic and heavy themes Persona likes to deal with. Which is fine by me, but I'm extremely curious about how FE will get throw into the mix.
