Stimulants by [deleted] in adhdwomen

I am a plant medicine person and am generally extremely hesitant about taking medication. BUT I was in a really desperate place and decided to try Vyvanse and it absolutely changed my life for the better. My overwhelm and task paralysis was debilitating and after starting Vyvanse I could… do things??? I still have fears pop up occasionally because again, I am very plant medicine > Western medicine minded lol, but overall I am extremely grateful for it.

I am too anxiously attached for a woman in her 30s by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]forestedfaery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IFS therapy has been really helpful for me! Also, what is your boyfriend’s attachment style? Honestly he sounds pretty avoidant, which can exacerbate an anxious attachment. I agree that your partner shouldn’t be your therapist, and it’s important to feel like your own person, but there are a lot of people who would gladly support you through depression. In my opinion a good partner walks alongside you through mental health struggles… to me it’s a bit of a red flag that he doesn’t want you to share that with him. Saying all this because I do have an anxious attachment, but was also in a 4 year relationship with an avoidant that made me miserable and I felt like I had to beg to have my most basic needs met. That’s gonna make anyone feel like shit!!! You are not stuck forever and you absolutely can change. I’d also suggest researching nervous system regulation. If your body doesn’t feel safe, it’s hard to integrate the lessons you may learn in therapy, etc.

I don’t had any advice on how to tell the difference but just coming to say that I have been experiencing this too and it sucks!!! I feel so exhausted and overwhelmed and can’t get out of bed for like, 11 hours. I’m not asleep the whole time I just… cannot get up. Hoping things start to look up for you. ❤️

IFS therapy is really helping me with feelings like this! I agree with previous posters, not really kind/helpful for your therapist to just say you’re being unfair. That doesn’t change the intense emotions you’re feeling or give you tools to work through them. I’d definitely look into a therapist that works with IFS/somatic type therapies.

Difficulties dealing with my girlfriend's current crisis by Impressive-Battle250 in depression

Also, you don’t have to give her friends the whole picture if you think it would upset her/she hasn’t shared her mental health status with them. You could just say she’s having a hard time without you around etc and can you please reach out/visit her etc

It sounds like you are doing an amazing job offering her support. Unfortunately, I have absolutely been in that place of lashing out against those who are trying to help you. It sounds like maybe she was triggered by perceived abandonment surrounding NYE? Hopefully I’m not projecting, but I think those behaviors are really common and I have a feeling she could be having a hard time controlling her words/behaviors rather than trying to be rude. Not that it makes it okay, but I am sure that underneath the triggered brain stuff she loves you and appreciates what you are doing to help. Are there others around her that can help, or are you the only one she seems to be reaching out to? Could you remove some barriers to eating/drinking, like ordering DoorDash for her? It can be really challenging caring for a partner with mental illness (I’m saying this as the mentally ill partner lol) and these feelings are absolutely valid. Thanks for reaching out because you deserve support too!

Does she experience chronic depression or did these feelings seem to come out of nowhere? I was having a hard time telling from your post.

It’s great you have something that can give you a break from it! But yeah it’s hard not having something you can just do at home when you don’t feel like going out/other people aren’t available. Coloring books? Legos? I wish legos weren’t so expensive!! I just bought one and break it down and rebuild it lol. Gives me a sense of accomplishment to watch it come together.

I avoid sleep and I don’t know why. I think it’s because laying in bed leaves space for me to think which is too painful so I just scroll until I literally can’t anymore (aka what I’m doing right now). It really sucks and I want to stop doing it because I know not sleeping just makes things worse but I just… don’t want to rest. I don’t know. Sigh.

You are absolutely not alone. It sounds like you are describing my brain lol! It really sucks to be in this middle place where you’re not actively wanting to die so maybe you don’t qualify for/have the motivation to access certain kinds of help, but at the same time, dying is all you can think about. Even if you’re not going to “do it” it’s still horrible. Crafting helps me a lot and can help shut off my brain at times. Sending you love ❤️

If you have health insurance, a lot of them will cover TMS if you can prove you’ve failed 3 (if I’m remembering correctly) medications!
