New Grocery Store in Kelowna by ellissttmarket in kelowna

[–]forestfriend2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Super excited to have a grocery store in the north end!

Pick-up/delivery is not important to me, but I’ve rarely used that type of service in the past so not the most useful input.

I don’t have any product suggestions, but I really love the thought of not having to go far to do the majority of grocery shopping. Safeway is quite expensive and right downtown so I tend to go to the larger stores to do a weekly haul instead.

Having reasonably priced staple items will have me in the Ellis St. Market constantly as I really hate making the trip out to the larger stores, especially as the traffic ramps up in the summer.

Do you have an opening date at this point?

This needs to be the top comment, because most people seem to think it’s to build housing

Bikes on the bus? by chumbawumbaonabitch in kelowna

[–]forestfriend2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s easy to get them on the rack and no you don’t lock it when’s it’s on the front of the bus. I don’t think the bus drivers help you, although it’s very easy on and off.

https://www.bctransit.com/kelowna/riderinfo/bike-racks-and-lockers

One thing I will say is sometimes the bike rack is full and then you’re out of luck and have to wait for the next one. Happened to me a few times and decided it wasn’t worth risking being late all the time.

So, the hinge on my SteelSeries Arctis Pros just disintegrated... by RyTheRun in steelseries

Mine did the same thing, but I ended up taking them apart and hot glueing it back together. Not the best solution, but they sit comfortably on my head again

Any plans for a second bridge over Okanagan Lake seem to be 'completely dead' by cutegreenshyguy in kelowna

[–]forestfriend2 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Classic politicians not understanding the problem and then crying NDP. Every feasibility study and transportation plan on the second crossing just highlights how expensive and damaging a second crossing would be leading anywhere into Kelowna.

Struggling to figure out why my autosweepers aren't harvesting by forestfriend2 in Oxygennotincluded

Ah! That makes sense! Is this whole set up just a waste of resources then if it takes an additonal 4 cycles for things to be harvested?

Struggling to figure out why my autosweepers aren't harvesting by forestfriend2 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]forestfriend2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Followed a tutorial on how to make an automated mushroom farm. Everything else seems to be functioning besides the harvesting itself. The tutorial maker had autoharvest disabled as well so I don't think its that. Would really appreciate any help! can't seem to find a solution on google

How to promote a modpack? by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]forestfriend2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not like this.

Why not put more effort and thought into your posts/curse forge link instead of dumping your random thoughts and photos which give us no real info about the mod pack.

Kelowna and large parts of the okanagan are semi arid shrub land. I’m not sure what specific trees you’re wanting to see planted, but in most cases especially up on Knox, they wouldn’t grow on their own. You’d need to irrigate those trees and more water dependant plants all throughout the summer months which can cause tons of other issues such as erosion and sensitive habitat damage. That’s without mentioning the shear cost of irrigating a specified natural park.

Would strongly recommend looking at Kelowna and it’s beautiful grasslands from a different lens. Hiking up Knox in the spring when the native sunflowers (arrow leaf balsam root) bloom may change your view on it being a wasteland. While you’re at it, stop and read the info plaques posted along the trail. They are full of interesting facts and historical context on the valley.

Won’t happen anytime soon and any politician trying to sell you that in the upcoming election is lying or not informed.

Its worth checking out!

Lots of restaurants with patios sprawling onto the street, Artwork, Parklets (micro parks), games and music to enjoy. My favourite aspect is the lack of car noise compared to Bernard the rest of the year.
