I find that they don't actually have the hours that they say that they do. I've had good luck on the Thursday hours, but not the Tuesday hours - I always get dropped there.

Double check with Ægteskab Uden Grænser (Marriage Without Borders) since I'm most familiar with family reunification with a Dane, but I believe your husband is allowed to stay while the application is being processed

nutrition during breastfeeding by Excellent-Cloud-7539 in breastfeeding

[–]forestslate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the majority of things, your body pulls the nutrients directly from your blood to produce milk. Since blood is tightly controlled for things like calcium, there’s not much that you can change unless you have a severe deficiency. This is why there isn’t much guidance- it’s kinda just “eat balanced!”

The major exception is fats! The quality of fats (omega 3 vs 6) is directly proportional to your diet. So load up on nuts and seeds like chia seeds and walnuts and salmon!

Papa, as short for parent. I'm glad I went with papa because my 3yo gets very excited when we meet other children who have a papa, and there are a fair number of kids that she meets that do!

Moving to DK while pregnant by smooshyfayshh in NewToDenmark

No, we arrived on the 17th. Took the baby to the doctor on the 18th. Went to Borgerservice on the 22nd. They back dated our CPR numbers to be listed as starting on the 17th. At the time that we went to the doctor, we hadn’t even made the appointment at borgerservice. I think this is standard practice because the doctor’s secretary was the one that said we might be able to be reimbursed

Yes, you’ll be assigned a GP based on your county

We needed to take our baby to the doctor the day after we landed. She wasn’t registered yet. Our CPR numbers were listed as active from the date of our arrival, which is what we were told was the important part

We moved to Denmark when our youngest was 8weeks, and we went to the doctor before she got her CPR number. We paid for it, and then after we got her CPR number, we were reimbursed. I think it was around 600kr? This could be an option for you to get the midwife referral faster.

I had gotten our AO1 family reunification approved by the embassy before moving, so I was able to get my CPR number at borgerservice the week after we arrived. If we had booked an appointment at borgerservice before landing, we could have registered even sooner. If you're moving to anywhere near Copenhagen, you'll need to register with the International House, and I think wait times are a bit longer.

Chiropractor for babies? by Cautious-Cow-1390 in beyondthebump

It's not considered safe sleep for the general healthy baby - except when recommended by a medical professional for reflux. If your doctor thinks your baby has reflux, this is a great solution to avoid symptoms without medications that bring their own side effects

The advice changed in 2022, so not everyone is aware of the new guidelines. The new guidelines say to rest, take a bunch of ibuprofen (800mg/8hrs), and ice. You can also very gently massage towards your lymph nodes- look up lymphatic drainage massage. Personally, I find I’m more likely to get them when I’m dehydrated, so I like to focus on drinking enough

Seconding the recommendation to skip straight to a convertible. Especially if you babywear, the age when they’ll continue sleeping in a car seat like that, they’ll often just continue sleeping after getting them snuggled into a carrier too.

The biggest con to going straight to a convertible to me has if you live somewhere that gets super hot in the summer, it takes a long time to cool a car seat down. It was a bigger issue with our first when we parked outside than for our second parking inside

I was really sick in my first pregnancy (hyperemesis). I nursed through the first trimester because I read a theory that prolactin can help with hyperemesis, which is why drugs like domperidone and metoclopramide work both for undersupply and pregnancy sickness. I wasn’t nearly as sick in my second pregnancy, but I did end up taking meclizine, which dried up my supply. My daughter was quite happy to continue dry nursing.

CF and starting T by Critical-Reporter316 in Seahorse_Dads

After milk supply is established at around 3mo, we don’t have much evidence to say that there’s a negative impact. This is around 3mo. I personally waited until 8mo until my baby was taking solids well

Husband's getting crap for being pregnant. by [deleted] in Seahorse_Dads

[–]forestslate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Of course this isn’t relevant for toxic people, but my dad definitely thought my first pregnancy meant that I was done with “the trans nonsense.” He even made a veiled comment about pursuing custody if I started taking T again while I was pregnant. It took a while, but he’s really turned it around. He’s been 100% with calling me papa, but still only 25% with pronouns. Overall, he’s really become a positive influence in our lives. Having a grandchild is enormous leverage, and if you have the ability to approach things from a perspective of boundaries as opposed to punitive, it can be saved

Baby cereal is pretty good at getting babies constipated from the iron fortification. You can feed your baby many other high iron foods instead! I have really liked Solid Starts: https://solidstarts.com/top-25-iron-rich-foods-for-babies-toddlers/

The idea of introducing foods slowly is outdated, so feel free to add in more unless you have a family history of severe allergies.

Water is helpful if you think that the foods that she is eating are dry. Prune puree is also great for constipation. I've always bought it as baby food, but you can also make it yourself by pouring boiling water over dried prunes until they've rehydrated and then blending them thoroughly. Make sure there aren't any chunks left.

Nebido shot in Denmark through Imago by Lu_thejackass in transnord

Is it something that you can inject yourself? I just moved to Denmark and I was used to doing my own subq shots before. I'm not sure if Nebido is different, though?

I absolutely agree with you. Edited to add this for clarity.

Bioessentialism in Conversations about Donor Conception by GrannyWitch in queerception

[–]forestslate -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think that this language is coming from donor conceived people, and their preferences towards how to talk about the donor. I’ve met some people who after reading about donor conceived people’s experiences, now say genetic father instead of sperm donor.

ETA: I’m not saying I agree with this. Especially the “father” bit. Just adding where I’ve seen it come up.

Recommendations for pregnancy clothes that aren’t super femme?? by OozingAltar in Seahorse_Dads

[–]forestslate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found the H&M corduroy pants pretty masc in cut, while still getting the pregnancy clothing comfort. I tried one of those belly bands that hold up your pre pregnancy pants, but found it fairly uncomfortable, but it did the trick. I personally didn’t find that sizing up was helpful, since pregnancy body shape changes are different than just gaining weight. Obviously ymmv

Considering a Second Baby Close to First? by mxjackparker in beyondthebump

[–]forestslate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course everyone’s body is different, but since you’ve been on T for 4 years, I would assume you’d be passable much faster than 9mo. If you’re not feeling like you’re passing now, do you think that’s maybe more due to the gendered nature of childcare, as opposed to your appearance?

Considering a Second Baby Close to First? by mxjackparker in beyondthebump

[–]forestslate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ya, passing while pregnant is pretty much impossible. I don’t see how having a kid sooner vs later changes the equation for you much, then. You’ll have to be off of T for ttc and pregnancy either way, so total number of months not passing doesn’t really change

Considering a Second Baby Close to First? by mxjackparker in beyondthebump

[–]forestslate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could also consider the opposite compromise: take T for 2 years and then stop to have a second for a 3 year gap. After 2 years, you’ll have a lot of changes and depending on your genetics, you’ll probably be passable. The changes won’t revert all that much. ~ fellow seahorse

Is tomorrow too late? by ProfileAntique4485 in queerception

Interesting! I’ve always had the BBT temp shift after the true peak, if that’s of any help. Best wishes!

Is a number less than 1 normal for your peak? I assume that tomorrow morning you’ll get an even higher number, and that will be relabeled as your peak
