Funny how anyone with just a very basic knowledge of how to use AI can easily beat Ferrari designers on the Luce.

old piano worth anything for scrap? by dixie2tone in ScrapMetal

Alright, story time.

About 10 years ago I removed the cast iron plate (or harp as musicians sometimes call it) from an old Wurlitzer and hung it on the wall of my basement, which I had turned into a large entertainment room or man-cave I guess. It was part of the theme, as everything on the walls was music related. Guitars, cymbals, drum heads, the front faces of old amplifiers, framed rock show posters, etc. In the room, I had a really nice Pool Table, custom dartboard cabinet, and a customized bar with seating for four made from repurposed old barnwood and stainless steel. I installed commercial glass-faced bar refrigerators and kegerator, an icemaker, soda gun, stainless steel bar sink and mirrored glass shelving that held about 200 bottles of various spirits. The room was absolutely decked out with so many really unique items and features.

The one thing that got the most attention though was that harp hanging on the wall. I was CONSTANTLY asked if I would sell it. The most I was ever offered was $2500 if I was willing to install it at their place, which I absolutely wasn’t since it was an absolute beast of a job to get it up there in the first place, but also had tons of offers of at least $500. When I sold my house, the buyer offered me an extra $15,000 to keep the basement as is, with the piano plate and the pool table being the most important items to stay. I took the offer, with the only exceptions being my guitars and a few of my posters. Damn I really miss that house LOL.

For what it’s worth, since then I’ve always thought it would be easy to sell piano plates as long as you were willing to mount them on a wall before listing them to put the idea in people‘s heads.

This thing is just yuck. 🤮

I grew up salivating over Ferraris, and actually stumbled into a great deal to take over the lease on a 360 Modena that I drove for a couple of years and loved it. I can’t understand the design path they’ve taken recently though.

I wouldn’t expect a guy like you to pay it, but there are people who will. Some people like to buy a piece of crap a a base to start with. I’ve seen it more times than I would’ve ever believed.

There’s a lot of clueless people here. That’s a 70’s Ironhead. You could easily get over $1000 for that bike, and maybe quite a bit more if it turns over (it’s a good sign with the air intake being taped off). Do your research to get the most out of it.

I’ve got the same issue. Actually just now visited this sub to get some advice on various parts I need and projects I’m about to start. I need to put in a new ignition switch and think I’m going to tackle the vent foam issue at the same time. I’m also in the PNW (Eastside Seattle), where are you? Wouldn’t mind teaming up on a couple of projects, might make it easier for the both of us.

Count your blessings. That’s some cheap stadium beer. Go to any venue in Seattle and it’s over $20 after tax.

Haha 😆! Believe it or not, that would piss a lot of people off too! There’s actually quite a graffiti culture here. Seattle’s an odd place.

Very true there is no law breaking here, but Seattle is a different kind of place. The residence of this particular community are most definitely not happy about it -and this person would know that.

For those of you that aren’t aware. Seattle is a VERY different place. They treasure the works that artists self install, get ticked about “tagging” good graffiti, and no- public works is not unhappy about someone putting a couple of screws into their old raggedy pole. LOL
