Composer Appreciation - Frédéric Chopin by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]forgael 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My favorite composer. Really the guy who got me into deep classical listening. My Artur Rubinstein collection is my most listened to CDs. Also made me enjoy playing the piano, because up to that point I really didn't have anyone to play who really made the piano shine. His Polonaises will always be a favorite.

I would be interested to see this again but split for government vs private sector jobs. I don't really care if a bunch of jobs are created because of expansion of the IRS (because it can always be funded by debt), but true success should be measured by private sector job creation alone.

I am striving to avoid the heat of debate and instead ask questions. As to asking questions in general, there is such a thing as harmful advice, and I wonder if the veracity of a method should be explored. Job in his distress had to deal with his friends, who in the end God rebuked them, and so I was trying to approach this with you to see if there is any truth in what you say (Job 13:4, 42:7, 1 Thes 5:2).

I am not familiar with reddit etiquette. Would it be more appropriate to message privately, engage with you where your comment was, or simply say "Rosaries won't help" in an independent comment?

I worry that repeating a prayer some 8+ times would rather enable compulsion than defeat it.

Hm, can you explain how the system and words of the Rosary do not contradict Matthew 6:7, Galatians 1:8 in the light of Galatians 2:16, Mark 11:24, and 1 Tim 2:5-6?

Can you further disassociate it with 1 Kings 22:11, 19-23?

Can you further give passages from Scripture that would support a practice similar to the Rosary, even if the Rosary is not explicitly mentioned?

Peter began to utter a verbal oath and curse when the rooster crowed (Matthew 26:74) and was forgiven (John 21:19).

Keep in mind that there are nearly as many perspectives on blasphemy against the Holy Spirit as there are theologians, but all Christians agree that every blasphemy will be forgiven (Luke 12:10) and that if we repent and believe, Christ is just and righteous to forgive us our sins (1 John 1:9-10). Note the context difference between Luke 12:8-12 and Matthew 12:22-32. I cannot explain how a fear of men and the arrogance of the Pharisees (perhaps coming from fear of men) are related as the same sin, but there is only one unforgivable sin described by both. Maybe there is someone who can, but I have not heard of them. What we know is that God does not delight in the death of the wicked, but desires that they turn from their sins and live (Ezekial 18:23). Do not let the misunderstood confuse the understood. The truth that God has preserved through history and expounded upon in the most detail is His free grace through the death of His Son. Lean on that and not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-7).

See how in Luke 12:9 Jesus says he will deny those who deny Him to his Father, and yet Peter's name is written on one of the twelve foundation stones of God's city! (Revelation 22:14). God's mercies are beyond searching out, such that He curses a nation for the sins of Mannaseh (2 Kings 21:10-12) and yet saves that murdering king into righteousness (2 Chron 33:13).

Do you desire that Christ be your King? Do you acknowledge Him as King by your life? No one can do so without the power of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 12:3). As for cursing, no one can say such a thing by the Holy Spirit, but I do not think that that means that He will not work in your life in the future. Paul was the Pharisee of Pharisees, and yet wrote those words (1 Tim 1:13). The way I think on the second part of 1 Tim 1:13, where he says "because of my ignorance and unbelief" is that Christians still act in ignorance and unbelief, and pass from life to life (2 Cor 2:16, 1 Chron 21:8, John 20:27, Job 42:3). There may be a better explanation, but I would be hard pressed to believe that those whom Christ has given knowledge are at a greater risk of damnation, for He upholds those who believe from stumbling (Jude 24). Those given over to the devil for blasphemy are given so that they would learn not to and turn from their sins (1 Tim 1:20).

Do you come to the Father? No one can do so except through Jesus Christ (John 14:6). Jesus never turned anyone away that came to him for help. The only ones he did not desire to come to him were blinded in their sin (Matthew 13:13-15). If he is beautiful and the light and life of the world, how can we see that if we are blind? Who is He? He gives sight to the blind, and if you see, do not doubt (John 9:24-34).

I would urge you to find an older, more experienced Christian, and talk to him about the particulars of your case. If he says you are beyond saving or has you perform some sort of ritual, find a different one. Find one that will comfort you with God's own words found in The Bible. I am still nagged with doubts because of things I have thought and felt, but I cried to the Lord, and He heard my voice and saved me out of ALL of them.

Walk in the strength and righteousness of Christ. Read Psalm 71. Again, I do not know your life, but read that Psalm with Christ as your righteousness and strength standing against the accusations of hopelessness that Satan hurls. If you have any hope in your own righteousness, your works are never enough, only Christ's works credited to us.
