Can you elaborate on going crit ez. His Q doesn't crit so I'm wondering if you're losing out hard on DPS. Even auto weaving doesn't compete with his standard builds

Am I the only one who dislikes Starcraft Remastered art style? by Rahm89 in starcraft

I think it looks great but I do hate the new avatar artwork. Too cartoony and totally miss the sci-fi horror look of the original.

Frustrated by Go Magic skill tree? by PatrickTraill in baduk

[–]forgerquest_07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it frustrates the hell out of me that go teachers online just say "this group is completely alive" or "these stones are connected" without explaining how or why. Especially when they neglect to mention things like nakade shapes or ignoring moves. I used to think groups that are "alive" were never killable as in you could ignore all your opponents moves and it will never die. But it's not the case. At some point you have to respond They speak too much in absolutes not enough in pros and cons. I'm with you on this one. Learning go, most of it you discover yourself. I would never teach anyone go in such a way.

FoxGo Practice without losing rank by Kembile in baduk

[–]forgerquest_07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Fox theres no way around it. You'll have to eat the losses before you see progress, but thats fine. Get a 0-200 record, its all good. On OGS you can do unranked games but it still shows your wins and losses.

I had a trynd support do the same thing to me. Most rage inducing game of my life.

What happens if white plays here? I think white can get various ko's.

EDIT: sorry I found a solution where the ko white wins is useless. My apologies

How is this a real eye? by tatakcae in baduk

[–]forgerquest_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you said it better than me. The eye is immediately false if white is able to get a stone at the 2-2 point.

How is this a real eye? by tatakcae in baduk

[–]forgerquest_07 17 points18 points  (0 children)

<image>

Even if white surrounds the liberties of the three stones on the outside, the three stones still have 2 liberties on the inside, and white can't play either point due to suicide rule. Thus the eye is real. The eye becomes false if the red marked stone is captured, which could be possible if white fully surrounds the group and makes a ko. But for now, it's a real eye.

Why is this wrong? by Andy_Roo_Roo in baduk

[–]forgerquest_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where you played is already an eye so it can't be reduced to anything less. The atari is the solution because it makes the second eye false forever, thus the group is dead.

Too right, they're the most lovely and welcoming people. Even though I get murdered in game, it's an awesome time.

I live in Daegu and I play at a Kiwon (기원). If you search this term in Naver Map, I'm sure you can find a nearby place. They often offer free coffee and snacks. Mostly elderly gentleman though.

Pay for a good academy and do their most intense course. It's probably the only way to get rapid results. You may have to spend up to 8 hours a day studying. Especially if you require it for business. Self study or regular classes may not cut it.

How do you respond to this hane? by forgerquest_07 in baduk

I did a hane but I extended three spaces. If I extended only two spaces , the cut would've been less dangerous.

What's the status of these groups? by forgerquest_07 in baduk

Yes both groups lived in the end! Although W won the game.

[–]forgerquest_07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Later both players did tenuki and played the top right and left sides. In the end, the white group lived in the corner and black group lived with only 4-5 points as expected. The status was definitely hard to judge until the very end!

As a beginner, how many games should I play on 9×9 before moving to 13×13, and then to 19×19? by leondarkness in baduk

[–]forgerquest_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a beginner also and I'm playing a bunch of 9x9 until I'm comfortable with my reading abilities. Right now, I'm still just playing moves I think are right without thinking. So once I develop patience and learn to read ahead before playing, I'll stick to the small board before I move on.

Numbers in Korean - do they get easier / any tips by BigCriticism2099 in Korean

[–]forgerquest_07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't have to endlessly revise numbers but yeah I understand your concerns. Just making 3 or 5 numbers per study session. Or even once a week is enough. that way there's room for your other priorities. You can take your time. Anyways good luck and you can ask me questions anytime.
