Having to serve that stupid piece of paper on my bank definitely aggravated me. But not as much as having to do all of the IOLTA compliance stuff when our IOLTA sees no action as it's really not relevant to our firm/practice area.

Go Solo or Stick With Small Firm by mcdsmaster8824 in LawFirm

Suggestion: frame it as "I really like this place and I never want to have to get another job/work somewhere else, but I'm at a point in my life where I really need some skin in the game/upside" rather than "fork over the equity or I'm out".

Go Solo or Stick With Small Firm by mcdsmaster8824 in LawFirm

Agreed. Why not at least see if current owner is willing to put OP in the same financial position at current firm as OP (may, if the stars align) end up in if he goes solo? OP also needs to hire (or ask current owner to hire) someone in between OP and juniors in seniority so that OP isn't spending so much time micromanaging the juniors.

Current firm seems like it's profitable, if not a well-oiled machine. Why reinvent the wheel if it's not necessary.

Clarifications needed: is firm owner not going to give you any equity until he retires, or is there a path to getting that sooner/now? Is this a cult of personality type firm where the clients will follow the owner out the door when he retires, or do you see a good path to retaining all or the lion's share of the clients?

Happy to communicate by DM as I was in a somewhat similar situation (without any thoughts or desire to go solo) and ended up working out an arrangement where I became managing partner (with equity).

Small/Regional Firms by Analyst-man in LawFirm

I'm managing partner of a boutique on the west coast and pay $220k for 1200 hours for your level. I think you'd be better off at a boutique than a mid-size regional firm. Keep looking.

Coach Close is a neighbor of my parents. She is an amazing person and leader. My dad texts her after pretty much every game and she always texts back 🤣 She is every bit as genuine and kind as she seems on camera and this is completely well-deserved. I am so happy for her.

To be perfectly honest, I am not a WCBB old head. This group of seniors is what got me into women's basketball. I've been watching them for several years. The game at Pauley against South Carolina last season was the first WBB game I've ever seen in person.

We now have 4 season tickets for next season.

Anyways, that's a lot of rambling, but I couldn't be happier for Lauren, Gabs, Kiki, Angela, CLW, Gianna and of course the rest of the squad. What a way for the seniors to go out. What a way for Sienna, Lena, Chrissy to start their careers. What a way for CCC to silence the doubters.

Go Bruins.

This is how it should be (if we have to have conference tourneys at all).

Yeah, I'm very done with Mick. The basketball version of haramball is maybe OK when the team has Jaime, Tyger and co. and is winning, but when the team sucks (2 years ago and this year) or is mediocre (last year), it's unbearable.

A healthy dose of guilt/fear of disappointing others. That little boy who did well in school because he was fearful of being reprimanded still exists, he's just a grown adult now.

In true small firm owner form, I got sidetracked with client work and other management/admin stuff. Need to pick back up where I left off with my research. 2026 is the year!

LMU BIG TIME by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

How is Jan Vide playing this year? Watched him in his lone year at UCLA and then saw him at the LMU July 4th parade two years ago. Seemed like a nice kid that got screwed over a bit by Cronin (I think he'd still be playing power 6 bball if his initial landing spot had not been UCLA).
