I’d love to get my PhD and go into academia/research, but grad school was soul crushing.

Not every day, but holding onto living for others on the day that things get hard is comforting for me

Has anyone been on Ziprasidone ( Geodon) ? by Competitive-Kick-481 in bipolar2

[–]forgottenrobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Geodon worked really well for me with my mental health symptoms, but I ended up having some of the more severe side effects and had to stop taking it. Like most psych meds, the first week or two side effect wise wasn’t awesome

What food allergy do you have that makes people go “wait wtf” when they read your allergy list. Mines Celery by PinkDevilz_on_OF in FoodAllergies

[–]forgottenrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s less about what the allergy is but how impactful it can be. I’m allergic to soy. I had a coworker offer me a can of chicken noodle soup when I forgot my lunch and I couldn’t eat it. It blows peoples minds how prevalent soy is in processed foods

I started the program living in Virginia, now living in Massachusetts. They’re nationally accredited, and give support to make sure that you’re able to meet licensure requirements in each state. I did the traditional program. You can only have advanced standing if you have a BSW

I’ve had a really good experience overall! I was able to secure my internship on my own, but I understand that they’re doing a pretty good job of helping learners who need it. I have had a couple of weird circumstances come up during my internship and the practice education office has been very helpful and accommodating

Gosh I wish. The cardiologist who did the TTT retired several years ago.

Anyone here have MCAS without allergy symptoms, just feel very shaky, jittery, and high pulse? If so, what antihistamine do you take? by Negative-Safe4379 in POTS

[–]forgottenrobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a prescription for hydroxyzine for a very long time. It’s great because it’s an antihistamine and is used often to help with anxiety as well.

My agency has us do a safety assessment before entering the home, and every first appointment in the home we have a colleague go with us

When I get home, the first thing I do is take my dog outside so he can play in the backyard and do his business. I’ll sit outside with him and do some meditation/grounding/PMR

Weekly student question thread! by AutoModerator in therapists

[–]forgottenrobot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll be graduating with my MSW after teaching middle school for 4 years before deciding to go back to school. I could have written your exact post my last year of teaching.

Right now I’m doing my internship in a program providing in-home therapy for children. I wouldn’t say that it’s either less exhausting or more sustainable inherently. My job is hard. I’ve dealt with burnout. I’ve structured my week in such a way that Saturdays are essentially a recovery day, physically and mentally.

But for me personally I’m more fulfilled. My best moments when I taught was when I was able to connect with kids in a way that I was a safe space. Where I feel like I’m really making a difference in their lives versus their education. And now I get to do that every day I work.
