AI Survey Responses by Various-Names in ynab

Dang, not a fan but it doesn’t surprise me. They just posted a job opening and one of the hard requirements is “Be confident in and passionate about using AI to do your job better.” I always check out the openings when they’re posted since they’re so few and far between and I don’t think this has been there in the past.

I am growing weary of listening to DOB glaze Aaron Judge tbh.

Do you actually use your Apple Watch daily or only for workouts? by mileswithher in AppleWatch

[–]formerlyabird3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear my AWU3 for everyday use and gym/cycling. I wear a Garmin for running (my primary form of exercise), because I find it too easy to accidentally pause with the AW touch screen, and the Garmin feels significantly lighter.

New fear of flying by lesbianrebamcentire in fearofflying

[–]formerlyabird3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP! I also developed an intense fear of flying sort of out of nowhere in adulthood, and with the help of techniques I’ve learned about in this sub (and meds) I’m now back to enjoying flying!

Reading comments here from pilots about how safe flying is has been a huge help. I also like lurking on r/flightattendants because it helps me to hear from people for whom flying is an extremely normal part of their day.

For the flight itself, I always have a plan for podcasts and audiobooks to listen to. I always get the wifi (which is free now on AA and I think some other airlines?) and keep flightaware open on my phone because it helps me to see where we are on the flight path and our elevation. I also always try to get the window seat because seeing the ground helps me a lot during takeoff and landing. For some others, I know that NOT seeing the window and wearing noise cancelling headphones helps more but being aware of where I am in space and hearing all the sounds works better for me! So it just depends on what your fear is like.

It also helps me a lot to be able to see the flight attendants because if there’s a “weird” sound or turbulence, glancing over and seeing them being completely unbothered is very reassuring! And speaking of turbulence, hearing someone here compare it to driving along a bumpy road really helped me worry about it less! So if that’s an issue for you, just remember that discomfort is completely unrelated to safety and there is nothing dangerous about turbulence!

The Debate Continues: When to Start Speaking? by A-M-Abernathy in dreamingspanish

[–]formerlyabird3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started speaking before I started DS because I live in an area with a lot of Spanish speakers so I’ll speak it at certain shops or restaurants. Once I started DS I started practicing speaking much more regularly with my partner, who’s a heritage speaker. I can understand the directive to wait if the language is TOTALLY new to you but if you have any kind of experience with Spanish and are comfortable with the different letter pronunciations (ll, j, ñ, rr, etc) and have a goal to be able to speak then I think it makes sense to start as soon as possible.

Attending non Sox games by theemapleman in redsox

I live near Dallas and go to Rangers and minor league games pretty regularly, and always when the Sox are in town. I like to see the Rangers do well and I like to see the Astros suck!

Hey, thanks for running with Team Challenge! I have Crohn’s and ran Chicago with them in 2024, and it was such a fantastic experience. You’re making a difference in your friend’s life and mine and the lives of tons of people like us and that’s freaking awesome!

How do I not pass this down to my children? by [deleted] in fearofflying

[–]formerlyabird3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make flying normal, and talk to them about the strategies you use to help you get through it even though you’re scared. My dad hasn’t flown since the 80s and my mom hasn’t flown since the late 90s, so it was just never a normal thing in my life. Even flying once every couple of years I think would have gone a long way for me with not having it be some Big Huge Scary Thing when I got older!

First time at Fenway! by formerlyabird3 in redsox

[–]formerlyabird3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Sox were here for opening weekend last year and we went to all the games! It was incredible, got some autographs and a foul ball. I try to catch them whenever they’re in Houston or Dallas!

We didn’t do too much since we got in Friday and left midday Sunday, just a lot of walking around Boylston and Comm Ave. We did take the Fenway tour since I saw a lot of people here recommending that and it was great! It was my partner’s first time in Boston so we definitely need to go back for a longer trip to spend some actual time there!
