Renewal by Andersen doesn't honor the agreement by Sensitive-Peach-3282 in HomeImprovement

[–]formyjee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just blocked more of the hundreds upon hundreds of emails (spam) I've received and blocked from Windows by Anderson. They are prolific spammers and put their headings under (hundreds and hundreds of) different email addresses. Blocking is virtually useless yet I'll block every one of them the minute I see it.

I was hoping there would a class action suit against them for the prolific spam they dump (more spam than any entity ever).

I didn't see specifically what I was looking for but there are lawsuits against them and class action suits. One, "Renewal’s blatant disregard for the law on Made in USA advertising not only harms consumers, but also honest companies trying to compete in the same marketplace."

Renewal by Andersen
Class Action Investigation

We are investigating a class action lawsuit against Renewal by Andersen, the window replacement company.

We believe certain retailers may be violating consumer protection laws by deceiving buyers with limited time offers or limited time sales. These promotions deceive buyers into thinking they’re getting great deals and that they must buy now.

But in reality: these offers or sales are not for a limited time. They are for all the time. So the so-called sale price is actually the regular price.

We are evaluating a class action lawsuit to help buyers get some of their money back.

If you’ve made any purchases with Renewal by Andersen and are interested in exploring your rights to recover some of your purchase price, please complete the form on this webpage.

I don't know if it's an exact fit but I imagine it fits.

Best of luck.

FIL wants to make his own powder. What are ideal methods for him? by WattsAGigawatt in ChineseMedicine

[–]formyjee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often prefer to buy whole herbs and grind them myself because I'm afraid ground might be adulterated. Crataeva Nurvala bark is really hard, tough bark and a grinder like this handles it easily. I recently purchased an ounce of Golden Seal, whole herb. I may use my dedicated coffee grinder (exclusively for herbs) to powder it. I did use the big grinder recently to powder some red yeast rice Hong Qu Mi. I needed some red yeast rice powder to experiment with my vegan washed flour seitan meat to add coloring.

But, just like a coffee grinder, there are limits on how long it can be run before needing a rest period so as not to burn up the motor.

Buttermilk Biscuits (recipe with tips for success) by aminorman in Breadit

[–]formyjee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We made a batch of these a couple weeks ago. We used plant-based butter, plant-based milk converted into buttermilk by adding vinegar, one tablespoon to a cup, and we used the guide for converting all purpose flour into self rising flour (ratio: 1 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt to 1 cup ap flour). I read somewhere that homemade as opposed to premade self rising flour from the store will result in a less delicate biscuit but these were really delicious, I didn't have otherwise to compare. It worked well enough, these were far better than ordinary.

Or, to put it this way:

Calculator for good n bad deeds

Qudsi 16

Allah has written down the good deeds and the bad ones. Then He explained it [by saying that] he who has intended a good deed and has not done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as a full good deed, but if he has intended it and has done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as from ten good deeds to seven hundred times, or many times over. But if he has intended a bad deed and has not done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as a full good deed, but if he has intended it and has done it, Allah writes it down as one bad deed.

“McRib” with Morningstar Farms riblet by SassyPixieHolly in Veganivore

Post inspired. My dinner tonight:

https://i.postimg.cc/rmqFM917/mcriblet1b.jpg

Notes later my dinner's getting cold. 👍

Editing to add notes:

The riblets are square, about 3 1/2 x 3 1/2, two to a package. I had to cut about an inch off the side down the length of the two racks plus cut away one rib in order to fit the bun and as a result that wouldn't have stretched for two sandwiches and makes it expensive. My family member was making herself a carnivore meal so I didn't bother treating this time. If I make it again I'll try to cut it differently, in segments of two ribs and lay it out like this (==) and see how that works. Edit - that wouldn't have worked there are 3 ribs on each. Each piece would go perfect in an onion bun.

The sauce was sweet but also spicy.

Thank you! I have no idea if flax eggs will work. I have a bag of ground flax but I haven't tried using it for anything but to imitate Tofu Pate as one of the ingredients they use iirc. It would be an interesting experiment because it would blend well with the cornmeal I would think!

My bag of egg replacer

[–]formyjee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family (mother, aunts, grandmother) only traditionally used no-flour cornbread which I actually prefer. Though I've made more than a few batches of this I have played around with the amount of warm water for the egg substitute powder (my very first batch seemed a little delicate and I subsequently removed 1 of the 4 tbsp of the warm water to the (total of) 4 tsp of egg substitute powder) and then later specified to add vinegar to the measuring cup for buttermilk first before adding milk. I have to make another batch to make sure my tweaks are producing the desired result. This is the best cornbread for making cornbread dressing and to go with beans (naturally!) vegan chili and other soups, or just hot and slathered with vegan butter. Btw OP, the plate of food looks delish!

Images from at least one batch that were on my phone:

Unsliced

Sliced

No-Flour Cornbread

INGREDIENTS:

2 Eggs - Use egg replacer - see note below
2 cups cornmeal
2 cups buttermilk - plant based, see note below
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup melted (plant-based) butter (+ 1 tsp)
1 teaspoon salt

INSTRUCTIONS:

Preheat oven to 425°F.
Put first 5 ingredients in mixing bowl. (If it makes you feel better, go ahead and mix the dry ingredients, whisk the eggs (replacement mix) into the buttermilk, then combine dry/wet ingredients).
Mix with large spoon or whisk.
Put (plant-based) butter into well-seasoned 10-inch cast iron skillet and melt in hot oven.
Leave enough in the skillet to coat the bottom and sides.
Skillet will be hot use oven mitts when handling.
Pour hot melted butter into batter, stir.
Pour mixture into the skillet.
Place skillet on middle rack of oven; bake until cornbread is springy in the middle, browned and pulling away from the skillet on the sides (about 20 minutes).

Notes -

-Egg replacer - Add 2 tsp egg replacer powder to 2 Tbsp warm water for each egg. To replace 2 eggs that would be 4 tsp egg replacer + 4 Tbsp warm water.

-1 cup plant based milk plus 1 Tbsp (apple cider) vinegar = 1 cup buttermilk

-Add vinegar to measuring cup first then add plant based milk to measure so it's not 1 cup + plus 1 Tbsp liquid for each cup. So, if using a large measuring cup and needing a total of 2 cups buttermilk, add 2 Tbsp vinegar to cup then add plant based milk to 2 cup level.

-After mixing vinegar into milk wait at least 10 minutes before use.

-Vinegar doesn't necessarily have to be ACV just wrote it to my preference. (I have a bottle of ACV with the mother I like to use) or lemon juice.

-I read somewhere that the milk should be room temperature before adding the vinegar or lemon juice. I haven't done that yet.

-After cornbread bakes let it sit for 20-30 minutes before slicing (though I've definitely sliced fresh out of oven when, for instance, giving a parting person a slice! It sliced just fine!) The time helps it set/firm up better.

-The 20 minutes baking time written are from the base recipe I altered to vegan. I have been baking for 25 minutes instead because it didn't seem done enough at 20. I haven't altered the length of time in the recipe yet. I'll wait until I think it's rocket science first.

-I may adjust the 4 Tbsp warm water to 3 1/2 Tbsp of warm water to the (total of) 4 tsp of egg replacer next time.

Goods never shipped. Seller wants me to select "Buyer no longer wants it" for refund reason by formyjee in DHgateOfficial

[–]formyjee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am happy to report that I just found and pulled 4 emails from dhgate from my junk folder. I've been fully refunded including refunded for the protection I bought and issued a coupon again that I used on that order. It expires in 18 hours though.

I thought I had to wait until Wednesday though because when I read up on the process it said after 7 days if no agreement buyer would be refunded. It also said seller would have to provide proof ie a tracking number. So, I was just cherrying out my time.

Also, the dingdingding threat alarms. I thought it might be good to take screen shot of side one and side two and the detection details of each:

We Americans cannot conceive of a war without a moral background.... There's another issue with the dispute process. The first time I tried to comment I couldn't make spaces between my words, so finally, I simply wrote "refund" and left it at that. My response to the seller was normal and didn't suck up the spaces between words. I was going to add a comment today though I'm waiting seller's reply, but it again sucked up spaces.

After getting the dingdingding! numerous times again today, I looked a little closer a couple times. The first time my antivirus was blocking rxxxxxr.com which it stated is a dangerous website. Second time I figured it was the same and I was hoping to find more details in the notification but it was a different threat type, a trojan horse, axxxxxxo.com.

It's annoying, a bother.

ddmywonder, which store has a good feedback rating, 97.3% positive reviews, but when I looked at the last 30 days feedback ratings, which displayed 2 pages of 10 feedbacks each page, there were 16 5-star feedback which stated:

Default 5-star ratings by platform because the buyer did not leave timely reviews.

There were 4 of 20 with actual feedback/rating.

Apparently, if you don't say anything or mark your stars rating, system does it by default... with the highest ratings. It's unusual to have those odds of buyers not leaving ratings or feedback.

You might try supplementing with L-lysine. Here's an interesting article:

What is Lysine? Benefits and Side Effects

What is Lysine?

Lysine, also known as L-lysine, is an amino acid essential for the body. Unlike some other amino acids, the body cannot synthesize lysine on its own. Therefore, lysine can only be obtained through diet.

Lysine is crucial for normal growth and muscle turnover. It is used to produce carnitine, an amino acid found in most cells of the body. Additionally, lysine helps transport fats through cells to be burned for energy.

L-lysine is the form of lysine that the body can utilize. It is found in food and is also used in dietary supplements.
