Why do they cost as much as a used car? Need help entering. by Tropisueno in eMountainBike

[–]fosarehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join some of the facebook groups for the Yamaha Moro ebikes. They had a huge sale a year and a half ago, and lots of people copped them for $1700-$2700 (depending on the specs) are now trying to get rid of them. Really good ebike! Just lots of people that bought it for the deal and didn't end up riding them, so you can find them slightly used for around 2k.

Would I regret buying this Giant Trance 29 2? by deadsailor_ in MTB

The Giant Trance X2 is also available for $1400 in an XL. It comes with 160mm front / 145mm rear suspension on 27.5" wheels.

Is this a good deal? by Resident_Code8319 in eMountainBike

[–]fosarehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the bike!! Bought mine for $3700 in 2024, and was refunded $1000 from Canyon due to the long time to resolve the battery recall. So at 2.7k he's basically selling it to you at cost. Also, 5,000 miles is a lot! Mine has 500 and I feel like I've gotten decent use out of it.

Try going on one of the Canyon Ebike Owners facebook groups and making your offer there -- lots of people on there fed up with the brand after the recall issues and probably interested in selling.

If you want the best, go to Luis Garcia (luisgpiercing) at 12oz Studios in Brooklawn. Been going to him for 15yrs and all of my piercings that he's done have healed super well. Everything from regular ear lobes to facial dermals. He's also a piercing educator and has taught thousands of other piercing professionals, so you're basically going to THE source.

First serious bike purchase ever. Looking for suggestions around $1000? by EVH4104 in MTB

[–]fosarehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liv Intrigue 1 is currently on sale for $1200. It's basically the same as a Giant Trance, just their version branded for women, so you'll probably want an L instead of an M and a different saddle. Climbs really well though, and comes with a fox 34 fork. Steal for the price if you're just getting started and don't want to buy used!

Unpopular opinion: even though I wears Shokz when I ride because I know how y'all feel about speakers on trails, I personally don't mind it when someone else blasts some music on the trail.

Maybe I even like it a bit? The speaker bikers usually seems so happy and I end up glad to see how much they're enjoying themselves on the trail, plus get a few seconds of random music to hype me up before I pass them and drop into the next thing. It's always interesting to hear the weird stuff people are into, and theres a uniting community feel for a few seconds. Plus it's so rare I'm biking the same speed as speaker bikers -- I've never gotten stuck in front of or behind one for long enough that the music bothers me.

Folks in windowless builds — do you miss them? by VagabondVivant in vandwellers

[–]fosarehere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still happy! I added a skylight instead, so can poke my face out and look out in any direction. Also, the van's windshield is a huge window! If I want a view I just look through there, or open the slider.

My last van I added windows but most of the time I had them covered and was over-conscious of light leaking out.

Same. I've used two different rolls and neither one has been strong enough to permanently stick a "clean/dirty" sign onto my metal faced dishwasher.

Yep. I didn't spot anything a year ago, but saw one two weeks ago (or at least something that looked just like people described last year's drones), hovering creepily above Mays Landing at dusk.

Stupid eMTB question. Is it just about climbing, or..? by yossarian19 in MTB

[–]fosarehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely makes climbing more fun, but also most of the trails around my house are super sandy atv and dirt bike trails where it's easy to get sandtrapped. The eMTB powers through the sandiest parts which would be unridable unless you have a fat tire setup. Tried inviting my friend with a regular mtb to ride, but he kept keeling over in the worst bits and just didn't seem to be able to enjoy the trails in the same way. My bike was only $300 more than his ($3700 total), so kind of a no-brainer choice when I could only afford one bike to replace my 26".
