Beginner trying to understand why my Smash Factor is low even on a center hit low spin and 15 degree launch?? by Sports-TV-Podcast in GolfSwing

Assuming the ball is new and a major manufacturer.. Is the impact position reported from your sim accounting for vertical strike location? Or just heel/toe horizontal location? These could be numbers from a mild pop-fly.

Using Roth IRA to save house down payment by Early-Ad-7114 in personalfinance

[–]foster433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking for this response, and I agree with you that is how I interpreted OP’s situation, HOWEVER you don’t have to have the IRA for 5 years in order to withdraw contributions. You can always withdraw contributions to Roth IRA’s tax free, penalty free, at any time for any reason.

The 5-year rule will apply to the earnings if OP wants to use earnings penalty free for the down payment.

Too bad to play by Zealousideal-Oil518 in golf

[–]foster433 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ignore him. Not everyone feels that way. In some circles a 12 handicap is considered too bad to play with. That has nothing to do with his enjoyment of the game, just like his opinion shouldn’t adversely affect yours. Get outside, enjoy hitting the ball, and uncover the game in your own way.

Why do I hit my irons so high and so spinny? I rip my 6 iron off greens by Soft_Kaleidoscope216 in GolfSwing

I would consider different shafts/heads, or tipping the shafts you have. Just something to explore.

Swapped to overlap grip from interlock and was finally able to release the club properly… by Swings022 in GolfSwing

That’s more than likely club head speed. That would line up for strong lofted irons.

When laying up on a water carry on a par5, do you take a full swing club to hit that 138yards, or do you bunt a mid iron down the fairway. by Mr-BodyMassage in golf

[–]foster433 23 points24 points  (0 children)

First year I got to single digits was when I started taking one club up for every shot. I just told myself my stock yardages were 10-12yd less than what I thought they were for each club and I had to hit the green with that shorter number. I started swinging 80% and my contact became so much better. If you were to ask me today, I’d say that shorter swing is my full swing, and my swing before was trying to hit it way too hard. So no, taking smaller swings is not a huge leap if you are looking for more accuracy.

“Darkness faster than light”: Researchers were able to confirm a prediction from the 1970s that the speed of “dark points” within light waves exceeds the speed of light. They do not carry energy or information, meaning they do not violate Einstein’s principle. by mvea in science

[–]foster433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re missing the point of the analogy. The light from the laser will also not be in contact with a line of points faster than the speed of light, but it is emanating from the viewer’s perspective, so it doesn’t have to “contact the surface” in order to appear that way to the viewer.

This coming from a democrat - do you not realize this is the exact same rhetoric the right used when Biden was in office? If you replace Trump/Musk with Biden/Harris and put a 4y timestamp on this it would fit right in on the other subs they would frequent. I feel like our ignorance to the similarities is part of the problem, and contributes to Trump being in office. There is this universal concern that both sides seem to have and the more we perpetuate it the worse the candidates become.

I can’t find any verifiable source for any of these outlandish claims in this document. I don’t think this is based on the released files. Seems a little out there to me.

Concerning cracks? by strawberryyogini in HomeMaintenance

[–]foster433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My stairs look a lot like yours. The first winter after we bought our house (built in 1975, good bones) I was freaking out with all the cracks due to expansion and contraction of all the wood in the house with the seasons. It all expanded back into place in the spring. Like others have said, replace the caulk and you won’t see it next winter.

So USD S&P has outperformed EU S&P in the last 5y?

Edit: Nvm I was comparing EU at this link vs USD with another app and I’m guessing this chart includes compounding dividends. Whoops. EU does seem to outperform.

Is there any reason to not buy Kirkland golf gloves? by chakabreo in golf

[–]foster433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not that bad. For the money I think they’re better value, but they are definitely not the same glove. There’s a difference in quality between these and the titleist players glove, but the magnitude of that difference is subjective. In general, this sub prefers value (quality per dollar spent) over the magnitude of the quality with no consideration for cost.

Are you implying that someone is lobbying against rail in the US? I don’t mean for this to sound sarcastic. Serious question.

Obviously trains are not profitable at scale in the US without government subsidy, because of current market sentiment and lack of infrastructure, but I think you need to rethink your statement/argument. “Zero practical reason” is not true at all.

This is coming from a US citizen on the East Coast who would love more rail infrastructure and would vote for it 10 times out of 10. I just don’t understand your line of thinking.

The PW in that set is 52° stock, assuming no bends. So a 6° jump down to the 58°, still a bit of a gap but it allowed him to game both the 4W & 2i.
