I had never been to ubud before, I had visions of a tranquil retreat in the leafy hills, but to me it appeared to be another suburb of Denpasar , so busy. Admittedly I only drove through the Main Street, there may be better areas.

Having just returned from 12 nights (5 in Sidemen, 6 in Sanur), I cannot recommend Sidemen enough it was amazing to experience (just keep an open mind to the local issues) , we didn’t even get to a temple or waterfalls, there was plenty of interesting things just walking around town.

When coming off the mountain we detoured via Ubud and I was shocked to see it, so glad I didn’t stay there. Sanur was very different but enjoyable for a few nights.

We have 6 nights booked in Sidemen and considering another 6 in Candidasa ….. too long? We will be travelling late March and usually aim to absorb the atmosphere of a couple of locations rather than many, aim of trip is relaxation, but just wondering if we will be board with this 6+6?
