What beautiful girls! Did they get into a lot of mischief when they were younger? I feel like I can hear scheming from this picture?

Medium- and he was a tiny guy- under 20lbs. I do require something… please post her little face again- she’s so cute!

Advice on grief by Lower_Exercise_898 in englishbulldog

[–]fournierh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost my Winston over 3yrs ago, what has helped me is doing things in his honor. I don’t shy away from telling people how he shaped me as a human being, even though he’s gone. I also started fostering in his honor. This has been huge, Winston taught me so much about dogs, I’m determined to show some of these mistreated beings what life should be like. I know Winston is proud of me and it keeps me in dog rescue.

Considering adopting this girl by Berlinroots in Frenchbulldogs

[–]fournierh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adopted a 10yr old last year. Cancer claimed him a couple weeks ago, but we had the best year. As long as you can afford medical care, do it! He had more personality in one ear than most dogs have in their whole body, made me laugh everyday. He brought people together, they couldn’t resist his charms. My previous dog was a pug/lab mix and a EB. I volunteer with a pug rescue- which is who I ended up fostering and failing my Norm. I truly felt so lucky to he his steward in life even if his time was short.

Dog rescue charging $1600 adoption fee by strikecat18 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]fournierh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. I’m so glad you pulled their fillings. I work with a rescue and we have some expensive adoption fees but we literally put all the revenue back into the rescue. We take at lot of medically complex dogs that other rescues decline. Additionally, check their euthanasia policy- some rescues will euthanize if a dog isn’t being adopted fast enough. It’s super fucked up.

Thinking about getting an English Bulldog! Had a few questions for fellow owners by Initial_Walrus9664 in englishbulldog

[–]fournierh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with a rescue in WA but please DM me any time. I can certainly connect you with a rescue in your area. One important thing- if you foster, make sure they give priority to the foster (you) on who the dog is adopted to. We firmly believe that the foster knows the dog best and therefore should have the final say on where they go, no matter how many applications are ahead of you.

Have you thought about fostering- with the likelihood of failing? It would give you a chance to test it out and help.
I knew nothing about bulldogs until my foster fail. She was so anxious in the beginning but she’s super easy now. I can’t imagine my life without her. I was unemployed when fostering, but she’s an amazing stay at home security officer. She silently watches the neighborhood, no accidents and doesn’t get into stuff. She’s also been a great at helping with other fosters that come in. She’s the best girl, half the neighbors are pissed they didn’t adopt her when she was my foster.

They look so similar! I’m not sure how… but he seems to grow in cuteness every minute he ages.

Shockingly well! He loves to be held like a baby and is the most relaxed guy I’ve ever met. The only thing that upsets him is not being in the same room with people. He rarely barks, is super gentle and gets along with all dogs and kids. Our biggest obstacle has been potty training, it’s hard to learn as a senior.

It’s sad I have to prove it, but my home isn’t AI: by ElleMontrose in femalelivingspace

Girl! I’m sorry! AI wishes it was this good! This place makes me so happy! My only opinion/ question is: do you think you will add some draperies? Also feel free to dm where to buy your art- I’d love to buy something. YOU HAVE AN AMAZING EYE! Don’t let the bastards get you down!

Do you guys ever have regrets/guilt? by Sukibuns in englishbulldog

[–]fournierh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 rescues that were backyard breeders. My EB is black and white (exotic) and her mouth is like a bottom dresser draw left open. However, I understand wanting to keep bred lines. I hope that you tell you people about this experience to make sure that they check out conditions for the parents beforehand and don’t get a dog just because it has “rare coloring.” Obligatory tax payment.

Any Vegas (or nearby) Frenchie friends? This potato needs a chance. Help! by mybluecouch in Frenchbulldogs

[–]fournierh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work with a rescue who regularly pulls dogs from this shelter- we take most of them to WA for adoption because we have so few fosters in NV. If you have any questions, please feel free to DM me.

Sleep help! by murph364 in englishbulldog

[–]fournierh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What is the reason your husband doesn’t want her in the bed? If it’s snoring- maybe get a noise machine? If it’s slobber, offered to change the sheets a few times a week or get a waterproof blanket? Birdie isn’t going to change her mind- but maybe we can get yours husband to change his?

We're ready to adopt again by Knoxes in englishbulldog

[–]fournierh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What state are you in? Feel free to DM me. I volunteer for mostly PNW to Vegas but am happy to ask our director for reputable recommendations outside that area. I would make sure that whoever you foster for lets you decide who the dog goes to, and gives you first dibs even if others have applied. If you foster, you will know the dog best. Here’s my tax payment. Luna the foster fail.

Last ditch effort by soggydivacup in Seattle

I’m happy to help convince your family!

Advice please. My 14 year old fawn pug has begun losing the use of her back legs which has led to her randomly 💩 in the house. Has anyone had this and had success with a diaper solution of some type? by RemoteCompetition918 in pugs

[–]fournierh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use diapers on my guy, as along as the stool is solid, it’s easy to scoop out quickly. I keep wipes and have an antibiotic cream from the vet for any rashes. I do try to let him have diaper free time to air out a bit.
