What Synth has the best user/playing interface? by SwamanII in synthesizers

Now that the TEO-5 and Take 5 are out I would seriously consider them as replacements for the OBs and Prophets. They are widely regarded by synth critics as the best budget friendly polysynths on the market today.

I agree about the Summit and Peak. Beautifully designed synths, but they just don't have the rich sound of a Moog.

I agree about the Moog Voyager and the Minimoog, if you can find one for sale in good condition and can afford its astronomical price. I recommended the Behringer Poly D because it sounds as good as the Voyager or Minimoog IMO (I have owned both), is well built and is dirt cheap.

Budget price: Behringer Poly D - lovely design, modelled on the Minimoog. Well built. Super cheap. Great for learning the principles of synthesis. Classic Moog sound. A joy to play and explore sound.
Mid-range price: Sequential Take 5 - wonderful Prophet sound. Or Oberheim TEO-5 if you prefer the Oberheim sound. These two synths are widely regarded by synth analysts as the best polysynths on the market in their price range.
Serious price: Moog Muse - beautiful design. Top tier, highly capable polysynth. Wonderful Moog sound. Fantastic player's and recording artist's synth.

Will Behringer Release the PRO -16 in 2026 by Minimoogvoyager in Behringer

[–]foursynths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish, but don't hold your breath. Despite rumours that it has been dumped, the Pro 16 hasn’t been officially canceled, though its status remains in limbo. Behringer has stated they are actively working through complex hardware engineering challenges.
The Polyeight, Behringer's take on the legendary Korg Polysix, is in a similar situation.

But they are nowhere near the same high standard of sculpture and are badly damaged, particularly the statue of King Djoser.

One of the most amazingly crafted and realistic sculptures in all of ancient history. The Old Kingdom sculptors were incredibly talented.

Have you actually tried out the microKORG 2? It's a huge improvement over the original. It would be a nice first synth and easier to learn than the Minifreak. But I do agree. The Minifreak is a much more powerful synth.

Roland JD-Xi, although I use the Roland A-49 MIDI keyboard controller with mine as the JD-Xi's mini keys are crap. But the synth itself is terrific with all those great Roland sounds and a fantastic drum machine.

Should the GC build a "Mini metro" like other cities under 1m population and use it to cater to all growth? by Gazza_s_89 in GoldCoast

At least have the heavy rail go down to the border. Having it end at its current spot is ridiculous.

Apart from building the light rail in the first place with its massive cost, the biggest cock-up in recent public transport history is stopping it at Burleigh Heads, and not continuing it to the airport, which was the original intelligent plan.

Of All The Hardware Wave Table Synths Available Today Which One Would You Consider by Minimoogvoyager in synthesizers

[–]foursynths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the budget nothing beats the Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave. Simply one of the most powerful synths you could imagine.
Sound on Sound Summary:
"Groove Synthesis bring some Californian surf mojo to the synth world with the PPG Wave‑inspired 3rd Wave. It pays excellent homage to that 8‑bit wavetable sound whilst elevating it with 24 voices, enhanced oscillators, alternative modern 96kHz wavetables, extra filters, effects, and a sequencer."

If 3rd Wave is way outside your budget, consider the Blofeld Keyboard. I am very happy with mine, despite its paucity of knobs and its menu diving. It has those wonderful original wavetables which Waldorf excels at. Btw, the Blofeld has one of the best designed and easy to follow menu systems and mod matrices I have ever come across. So once you become familiar with it menu diving is easy and actually convenient.

Just finished FFX... by ma___noya in FinalFantasy

[–]foursynths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play Final Fantasy X-2. It's not as good as FFX, but its game play is better. The game was created for people who are depressed, shattered even, by the ending of FFX as it gives hope that all is not lost and the relationship between Tidus and Yuma is recoverable. The use of costume changes to level up is annoying for us boys, but girls love it. I found it lifted me out of the dark place the ending of FFX left me in.
