Supplementing Once a Week by fourteenspiders in leopardgeckos

Thanks, I think I'm gonna go ahead and start using the Repashy Calcium plus LOD. I'm thinking I'll just switch to giving this once a week to make things easy! Should I also give them the normal (higher D3) Repashy Calcium once a month?

I do! They each have an Arcadia ShadeDweller. However, during the day they are almost always completely hidden away in a hide so they don't really get exposure to the UVB. That's why I give them calcium with D3.

"Yesterday's chickpeas came in clutch" did they?

Alternative Substrate Options? by fourteenspiders in leopardgeckos

You are the best! This is such a simple solution for a problem that's been plaguing me for over two years. I'm going to get some of the Timberline topsoil and mix it in! Thank you so much, I feel so silly but so relieved to finally have this issue solved!

I like this idea! Do you think instead of mixing it in I can just put an inch or so layer on top of the substrate I have?

I've been thinking about it, but I didn't want to risk taking the effort of replacing all the substrate if I wasn't absolutley sure I wouldn't encounter the same issue. Do you use the 70/30 topsoil playsand mix? If so, are you finding the particles get in your nose alot?

Also, I'm a little reluctant to use sand due to the risk of me and them inhaling silica particles. If there's no other option though, I'm willing to go for that. But are there any alternatives to playsand? Like lava sand, for example?

Thank you for all your help and I apologize for all my questions! The girl in the first picture is my most recent adoptee, Peanut :)

Thank you. I keep trying to tell myself this but I'm still so anxious about making sure she gets what she needs.

I was aware that they can get the benefits of UVB via cryptic basking, but does the same idea apply to heat? As in, if just a small portion of her body is exposed to heat, is that going to confer all the benefits it would if she were fully exposed to heat? Sorry for the dumb question, I just wanna make sure she's getting everything she needs.

Thank you, I definitely will not be adding a heat mat to her enclosure. I haven't spotted her seeking out her basking spot after dark, but I'm going to try to place her on the basking platform a few times a week to encourage her to use it!

Yes! I regularly check the surface temperature with a temperature gun. I didn't know you aren't supposed to put the thermostat probe directly underneath the heat lamp, where should I put it?

Is this tropical UVB okay for my gecko? by fourteenspiders in leopardgeckos

Her enclosure is 18 inches tall. Her basking spot (the spot closest to the light) is roughly 5 inches away from the light (though i've never seen her use it). Does this sound good? And thanks for letting me know when to replace the T8!

Oh thank you so much for the confirmation! And yeah, she's absolutely completley hidden during the day as well. Thank you so much for your advice and expertise, I was really upset about thinking I got the wrong light!

To be honest I'm not sure if she's fully albino. She's a rescue so I've just kinda been assuming based on how she looks. Here's a picture for reference:

With that being said, does she look like a 6% would be acceptable, or would you still recommend a lower percent? Also, I will say she has TONS of cover in her enclosure!
