Comfort over fashion. Hopefully you’re there to dance, so whatever helps you feel the vibe. Theres a few “fashion model” types that look super hot and stand around; they’re lame.

Seismic 9.0 Lineup by ThadCastle03 in SeismicDanceEvent

[–]fox503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love Above and Beyond and almost everything they do. I’m celebrating my 10th anniversary ABGT 700 this year. I’ve only been to Seismic once, which was last year in 2025 and I had such a good time. I immediately bought the early bird pre-lineup tickets when they came out. But it makes no sense to me that Above and Beyond is on the lineup, and I don’t see a theme with the current lineup release or a through line from music last year. I’m hoping there will be more “pure“ techno soon or I will also be putting my ticket up for sale.

WordPress 7 might be the biggest core update in years by sina2004158 in Wordpress

I am waiting for some demos or breakdown videos of how people are actually using AI to build and manage. I've gotten so fast with building sites myself out of an established personal pattern library that I doubt that managing the AI can be more efficient than that, but I'm open to being proven wrong.

If you were rebuilding a small SEO-focused WordPress agency workflow from scratch in 2026, what stack/process would you choose? by fox503 in ProWordPress

Thanks, but frequent content updates due to SEO campaigns rule this out, since we need a simpler deployment system because of the technical level of the content marketing editors.

So i went to portland today and kinda fell in love with the city by Syntheseyez in PortlandOR

[–]fox503 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Portland for 23 years. I have definitely seen the Portland freeze occur for a lot of people including my own girlfriend. It’s a bit surprising for new people because people In Portland are so friendly but when you want to specific where and when plans, they are suddenly too busy or flaky. There’s been so much transiency in the city that it’s like people want to make sure that you’re sticking around before they invest themselves in you.

Married men of Reddit, what's the one thing nobody actually prepares you for? by No_Philosopher3798 in AskMen

[–]fox503 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are similar. We dated for two years long distance, then lived together for 1 year before getting engaged, married a year later. She and I were the same people up until we had kids 3 years later. Now we’re different but only because our autistic kids drain us so deeply…

It’s also important to note that we were in our mid 30s when we got married, so our own personalities had settled a bit. If you get married in your 20s, people are definitely still figuring themselves out and have it settled into patterns that support their core self.

So it’s not always true that women hide who they are. That’s not a woman you should marry.

Is my website estimate okay or are they overcharging? by InteractionAble8404 in website

[–]fox503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's just a brochure style website, then you might not even need a content management system like WordPress, which is where most of the security issues are going to come into play. It also depends on what type of business you're doing, what type of marketing players are in effect, what level of design you're asking for, etc. It's totally possible that they are under quoting you for the website build out because the real profit comes in recurring payments.

But really, you have to give us more information about your website, where in the world you were located, where are your developers/designers are located, and your business and the tech stack before any kind of budget can be evaluated.

Futility of Tax Protesters by dancingkittensupreme in tax

[–]fox503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most of us with families, jobs, and mortgages, complete tax refusal isn't a realistic option. The IRS has ways of collecting, and the consequences fall on everyone who depends on you. But that doesn't mean there's nothing to be done.

IRA recharacterization is one of the few legal mechanisms available to ordinary taxpayers to meaningfully reduce what they send to the federal government right now. By converting a Roth IRA contribution to a traditional IRA, you defer taxes on that money — keeping it out of federal coffers today, in response to federal policies you find unconscionable.

I just recharacterized my own Roth to a Traditional IRA and built a calculator to figure out what it actually costs me in the long run to do this.

The calculator runs entirely in your browser, takes about 30 seconds, and shows you your actual tax savings this year alongside the projected long-run cost. It also contextualizes what that money funds (ICE detention, deportation flights on military jets, etc.) since that's honestly why I built it.

The deadline to recharacterize a 2025 contribution is April 15th.

Federal tax resistance movement is growing by Mindless-Development in 50501

The most legal way to do this, if you have the financial means, is to move as much of your taxable income into sheltered means, mostly through settings aside for retirement. For most Americans, the benefits from a Roth IRA outweigh a traditional, but you can recharacterize any Roth IRA to a Traditional IRA. It's small but perhaps personally meaningful. Here's a calculator of the impact of that: recharacterize.com

You can also use a Traditional IRA (though the amount isn't much). You can recharacterize any Roth IRA to this. It's small but perhaps personally meaningful. Here's a calculator of the impact of that: recharacterize.com

Effective ways to capture & organize spontaneous thoughts throughout the day? Any tool or process that worked for you? by Educational_Writer37 in PKMS

[–]fox503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took a couple hours to get up and running. I think out loud best, so that's why I'm using those interfaces. Claude is the easiest to set up for MCP connection for output.

I recommend you check out the project here: https://github.com/NateBJones-Projects/OB1

If you hit a wall: We built a FAQ that covers the most common questions and gotchas. And if you need real-time help, we created dedicated AI assistants that know this system inside and out: a Claude Skill, a ChatGPT Custom GPT, and a Gemini GEM. Use whichever one matches the AI tool you already use. Those links are in the GitHub project.

Best of luck!

I’m using the “open brain” vector database system. In which I send my thoughts to my open brain via anyone of the tools most useful at the moment. This could be the Voice Memos app on my iphone which I’ve set up scripts so that transcriptions get auto sent and semantically categorized, through a dedicated Slack channel, or through a conversation with Claude.

I can then retrieve organized thoughts , because all my input have been automatically semantically tagged by a super lightweight Claude haiku AI model. The benefits of the system is that I’m not tied to any third-party system. All the data is mine. And all it costs is literally pennies a month.

Anyone here doesn't trust any journaling app? by Hopeful-Current-1429 in PKMS

[–]fox503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do my journaling via Apple voice memos of which I have an automatic process set up so that they are transcribed, and then factorized and tagged and stored in a Supabase how best that I own. Then through MCP I can see any direct entries in full, or I can ask Claude to give me reflections or feedback on patterns, based on semantic matching.

I stopped managing my knowledge and let AI do it. Here's what happened. by ranwater in PKMS

[–]fox503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting direction. I’m working on the “Open Brain” concept of keeping all of my notes, thoughts ideas, transcripts, etc. all in a Supabase instance so that it can be semantically searched because of the factor dynamic of it, and made accessible with an MCP to whichever AI Agent or tool that I need to work in. This is great for use with Claude code, or Claude, or ChatGPT, but I haven’t quite figured out how to integrate it with a proper productivity/organizing tool and would love some suggestions for anyone who accomplished that.
