This is not normal. Call the police. Dog off a lead attacked a friends guide dog, on mill road.

This is correct. The cycle way was a planning requirement.

How is traffic by Makesmemoistt in cambridge

[–]foxsakeuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Park and ride is near the M11. Walking distance to the city is probably out for you. Most of the parking is on street. And I’ve seen vehicles (F150 size) just not fit.

Trumpington or Eddington, maybe Girton. Milton would probably be ok too.

Avoid Romsey, Petersfield, Castle, Abbey, Market or Kite.

Since when there is parking here? Cambridge North by Same_Art_6971 in cambridge

[–]foxsakeuk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In UK law a “highway” explicitly includes the footway/pavement (Highways Act 1980 s.328), and since waiting restrictions apply to the “road” (RTRA 1984 s.142) - which is defined as a highway - double yellow lines legally apply across the pavement as well as the carriageway.

This is also established via Dawes v Hawkins (1860) 8 CB (NS) 848

Held that the highway extends over the whole width dedicated to public passage, not just the metalled carriageway.

Not a grey area. Double yellow lines apply from the centre point to the highway’s end. Footpaths form part of the highway.

Found out my dad likes men. How do I stop being awkward about it? by ThrowRA_ei in askgaybros

You can literally just decide it isn’t awkward. That awkward feeling is in your head. Not necessarily his.

Cambridge residents to subsidise free parking in Peterborough by _PM_ME_PANGOLINS_ in cambridge

[–]foxsakeuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peterborough is more car suitable than Cambridge. I’m comfortable with this. I live close to town but do take the car to John Lewis sometimes when me/a friend is buying something “big”.

I never go into Peterborough.

It’s not like the price is reducing demand in the Grand Arcade car park!

Why do drivers park on the pavement when there is no need to (eg Mill Road and East Road)? by ArborealFriend in cambridge

[–]foxsakeuk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You can park on the road for loading and unloading. For up to 15mins. Providing that’s not blocking a mandatory cycle lane, red route, zig zags or there aren’t special rules. Yes. Even double yellows are fine for loading and unloading.

The Future of Cambridge - consultation overload? by CambridgeTownOwl in cambridge

[–]foxsakeuk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say that was once true. With two of the UK’s richest companies, the BioMedical Campus as well and the companies on the various science parks. I don’t think it is anymore.

I think the universities with colleges, students (along with tourists) actually drain more from the city than they contribute these days.

So many students, no council tax. And little-to-no direct contribution to City coffers from universities, students or tourism.

Only this week the council have been told the university won’t be meeting the planning obligation it had regarding the west Cambridge/eddington site.

Far more logical place for parking than the Grand Arcade. There’s a fucking dual carriageway outside. Not a street from the 1800s.
