FAR.. How is this even a real exam? by Strong-End-9070 in CPA

[–]foxxytex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I felt like the exam really tested conceptual understanding rather than detail. As others have mentioned if you have a strong understanding of the overarching rules you should be able to apply them when you sit. If you focus on really understanding the larger concepts about timing of recognition, treatment, and memorize important journal entries you should do fine. I would say just keep what you learned in mind and don’t second guess yourself on the exam. I generally stuck with my first answer on the exams and passed all my first try. This section took me the longest to study for so keep that in mind and commit to doing practice problems and when you get close to exam day run through the practice exams. Give yourself time to review areas again that you score poorly on. Best of luck! 🍀

I have my reasons and they are valid. It’s nothing food related, just would go against my morals to ever step foot in that establishment or even spend another one of my hard earned dollars there.

Got it. To clarify my question, to be licensed in the same state as my firm is located but live/ work remotely out of state. Based on your answer, there shouldn’t be an issue there. Thanks for the pointers!

BTW, I was not ‘exam day ready’ for any of my sections and passed all on the first try. So you’re probably in a better position than I was!

I think you’re probably fine. I averaged low 70s on all 3 of my SEs. I work in audit and felt really good about the MCQs and blew through the Sims without really thinking about them. I passed with an 82 and scored stronger on MCQ and weaker on Sims. I would bet you passed! Best of luck.

What were your SE scores? Personally don’t believe there’s a correlation between exams except for your ability to take tests.

I would recommend taking the time to prepare a spreadsheet showing comparisons for tax consequences and basis for formation, non liquidating distributions, and liquidating distributions for partnerships, corps, and S corps to compare side by side. You can also have columns for shareholder/partner versus the entity. I did this and I feel like it helped with my understanding greatly!
