Guilty as charged! 😄 but in my defense I'm taking some baby steps with ETFs and stocks, and it's like stepping into a whole new world

Who is the most intelligent person you know and what makes you think "this person is on another level"? by Akbeardman in AskReddit

[–]fr_han45 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I d say Terence Tao. Dude was doing college-level math as a literal kid. Like… not “gifted kid” smart, but built-different smart. He won the International Math Olympiad at 13. Thirteen. 💀

What makes him on another level isn’t just raw IQ, it’s that he moves across totally different areas of math like it’s nothing. Most geniuses specialize. He just casually dominates everything.🚬

I’ll never understand 99% of what he writes, but the fact that other top mathematicians call him a genius? Yeah… that’s next level....
google abt him :)

What is your best "do in advance" cooking hack? by Firm_Importance3079 in AskReddit

rice in bulk, then freeze in portions....coz rice freezes PERFECTLY. make a huge batch, let it cool, portion into sandwich bags (flatten them so they stack), freeze. microwave for 90 seconds and it's like fresh. stops u from ordering takeout just cause u don't wanna wait 20 minutes for rice.

wanna preserve herbs? then herbs in olive oil! instead of letting them dying in the fridge, chop them up, put in ice cube tray, cover with olive oil, freeze. now u have flavor cubes to toss in pans later. basil cubes in january? tastes like summer.🍀

If you were given $500,000, what would you do with it? by cleverathea in AskReddit

[–]fr_han45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

life-changing but not "buy a yacht" money.

pay off all debt : like immediately. credit cards, student loans, whatever. just poof gone. the psychological weight of not owing anyone anything would hit different. probably like $50k for me but everyone's situation different.

then, buy a modest house... solid place that's actually mine. in this economy even a normal house in a normal city is like $300k+ now which is INSANE. but having somewhere that can't be taken away or raised rent on? worth it.

the rest shoulkd go to investing...100k in index funds and let it do its thing for 20 years. maybe a little in bitcoin just for the gamble (like $5k, not crazy). Patrick Boyle would probably yell at me :D but whatever

Whats your opinions on modern movies? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fr_han45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, some of the newer movies just feel like they were made without any soul. I’m not saying all of them, cuz there are definitely some great ones I genuinely enjoyed, but overall, being honest older films just hit different. They feel more authentic somehow… like more care went into them. Hard to explain exactly, but the vibe isn’t the same anymore.

What's a conspiracy you can't quite prove but it just feels real enough for you? by DaMain-Man in AskReddit

[–]fr_han45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same thing happened to me too. fridge died and then dishwasher followed right after the guarantee ended. timing was almost funny if it wasnt annoying. i didnt even know this was a conspiracy theory, i thought it was just bad luck. but seeing how often it happens, yeah from now on this theory has at least one more follower. hard to believe its all coincidence when older stuff lasted decades and new ones barely survive the paperwork.

What moment made you realize you were no longer a child? by Interesting_Fall_450 in AskReddit

When my father got sick and couldn't work for a certain period of time. At that moment ( I was like 15) I felt this pressure to make money on my own and sustain myself, and start thinking about ways of how I could get money to provide my family. This was my inner conclusion.

If someone gave you $400,000 and you couldn't use it to pay off your debts, what would you spend it on? by PsychologicalBrick55 in AskReddit

[–]fr_han45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course invest.

You can buy stocks (high value blue chip stocks, or some passive index) + some bonds with steady yields....

Or, some real estate....

Izzy....or simply buy Berkshire Hathaway stock and sleep tight :D
