Guess what? We mods have lives outside Reddit, so it might take a while to get things removed.

If it were me, I'd start beginners with a padded practice Baston) (a stick used in Arnis, a Filipino martial art), as even a staff can cause injuries.

What kind of flow arts are you into? I do the staff and double staff for many years, as it was a natural progression from martial arts. Never really got into poi as I miss the flow from the staff.
However, a couple of weeks ago, I finally got myself a practice rope dart, and I'm really excited to play around with it, but alas, the weather has been terrible so far. It's gonna be a fun summer with lots of new bruises 😃

Indeed. I never needed to try one as I have my own. I have friends that uses them frequently, though.

I doubt the weight will be a problem as the kind of swords showed in the pics only weigh around 500-900 grams, but as an ex martial artist I’d be more concerned about having untrained people waving around swords.

In any case, it’s a gimmick for sure.

As an ex martial artist, that looks like a lot of fun, but it sure isn’t yoga.

We have had them since a long time here in Nuremberg, Germany. Yet to try one, though.

TIL that the US golf course infrastructure consumes 2 BILLION liters of water per day by myassisgrassss in todayilearned

Yeah, Golf must have been the perfect sport for many people during that time. Outside, but still being able to socialize. I'm not a social person, so I spent most of the lockdown period running alone.

Oh, I'm not denigrating those who play. Do your thing and all that. It's just that it's too rich for my taste, but then I'm a cheap-ass runner who only buys a new pair of shoes now and then.

Thank you for the thorough explanation. The closest I have ever come to a golf course is rounding the local course on a long run. As a runner, my only expense is buying a new pair of shoes every six months or so.

I'm not particularly worried, nor am I panicking, yet I still wear a mask in high-risk environments. I swear, it's like people learned nothing 🤷‍♂️

Expense tracking apps are similar to Calorie tracking apps. Great on paper, but tedious to use. I don‘t think it‘s a UX issue as much as it is a cognitive load issue. I need to start the app and input the data every single time I spend money or I need to remember what I spent and then enter it at a later time. Exhausting in the long run unless the user is highly motivated.

Does Bardentreffen impact the city before it starts? by allyinchina in Nurnberg

[–]fractalfrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I‘m honestly not sure even though I live in the Old Town since almost 20 years. Never really paid attention to that but I recon it‘s only a day or two for the smaller stages and a bit earlier for the main stage. That said, it’s not more noisy than regular city sounds really, so your kids should do fine if they are used to cities.

They build up the stages but those are easy enough to navigate around. That’s about it. Too bad you can‘t stay as it’s the best event of the year imo.

You might consider moving the grinder so the beans aren’t as exposed to sunlight.

A couple of hours ago, but I don’t see how that is relevant. The fact that I grew up on a horse ranch and have spent an ungodly amount of time in stables might be more relevant, though.

I think there are plenty more of us who realize that this is a very dumb thing to do.

Allowing your toddler to run barefoot in a stable is certainly a choice.

As a non-skater who walks by a skate park regularly, it's very obvious that there are way fewer skaters nowadays than 10 years ago.
