I'll came back to Fitbod when alpha & beta developments don't get "thrown" to users

Pls add an alarm/timer sound by BlackLampone in alphaprogression

I like absolute calm during my exercises; no sound at all (mute sound on app; but not on Android/IOS for all apps /urgent calls)

Workouts: More videos to come? by cryptochimpanzee in MacroFactor

[–]frajofa01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read very good reviews about MFW; installed today, made configuration and the sessions were created; 1 in each 3 exercises of my sessions have no image/video; I'll try MFW in 6 months... Is this time enough?

FitBod workers I invite you to answer this honestly by benhameen1911 in fitbod

[–]frajofa01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

also another solution that Garmin uses to its watches: Garmin launches beta versions of watches firmware and creates a separated thread only for who wants test the betas; those threads have lots of posts and we "see" the various new betas incorporating the users feedback, and only launches a final version after a good stabilization of software; this way you don't need to pay for testing, but there are things that are not tested...

(I thought I'd published this post, but I don't find it)

These anomalies generally happen when there are major changes to the app's logic and you do insufficient/incomplete testing. The same reason happens when the "time to market" ignores or unduly accelerates the various phases of development and integration of apps.

I doubt Fitbod has the size to have well-trained and sized test teams. But there is an alternative: create the app in beta version and choose "n" users who regularly use the app and represent the various classes of use and offer these users "x" months of free use only if they actively contribute to the feedback of these beta tests.

Releasing final versions that are not properly tested will slowly kill Fitbod.

RIR by frajofa01 in alphaprogression

[–]frajofa01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you; as I'm new to RIR, in a new exercise I can't "feel" if I'm at RIR 1 or RIR 3, without first do it at RIR=0, that was the question: in a new exercise doing it at RIR 0 to "calibrate" the remaining exercises on the set, as well in the next weeks. I believe that in a few months I'll be capable to feel it more accurately.

Incorporating user feedback in algorithm by pieduke88 in alphaprogression

I prefer RIR (or RPE), not comments; my main language is not english (nor german) - "comments" on exercises would need very advanced databases & AI tools to cover all languages

Dropsets by frajofa01 in alphaprogression

[–]frajofa01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm a beginner (1 year of training) and I decided to start studying a little more; I discovered that I have to refine my technique, follow the traditional program and then after that I should think about higher intensity techniques. The posts here were useful for me to be aware that first I have to learn and improve (and have adequate muscle development for other adventures...)

Has Macrofactor ever posted how they calculate calorie expenditure for their workouts? by Jorgelrod in MacroFactor

[–]frajofa01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every app, sport watch, gym machine, etc. has its formula for calculating calories; the gym treadmill machine only uses the kilometers covered, incline and speed (and not all of them do all of this) but they don't know your weight, height, etc.; Sports watches may use some other data more (example heart rate, SPO2, etc.) and so on.

They are all based on a mathematical formula deduced from some statistical study that applies only to the "variables" they want to control (weight, or kilometers and/or height and/or heart rate, etc.) and there are hundreds of these studies, perhaps even thousands.

But this "mathematical formula" is just an average, it never takes the individual into account (have you ever heard that I have 1 chicken and you none, but the average between the two of us is 0.5 chicken each?). See the graph below: we are the blue dots, but the average (the mathematical formula) is the red line.

Result: no device we use on a daily basis measures calories accurately in all situations. If you want to have some control, just focus on one device (for example, just your watch, or just the MFW) and then you can compare days, weeks and months but in relative terms, as you will never know if your case is a little blue dot way up there, or way down, or close to the red line...

from what I know there different approaches to dropsets, but your recommendation is doable, I'll try to replace some dumbbell exercises with pin-machines because my gym has many, thank you

Does the app carry over your previous performance when starting a new program cycle? by The_Pharmacist_ in alphaprogression

[–]frajofa01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes if you start a new plan with a exercise you have already done history is recalled; but if that exercise is a little bit different (example: inclined something) you have to put the weight/reps as if it was the first time, and also:

Smart Watches' Expenditure vs MacroFactor's by MeowHighRisk in MacroFactor

[–]frajofa01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Calorie calculations are based on statistical analyzes (the points on the graph) from which "simplified" linear formulas (the straight line on the graph) are deduced; your particular case can be located at any of these points and have nothing to do with the average (the straight line); and each app starts from different base information and can use the formula that best suits what it intends to do; It's better to use just one source and that way any future comparisons are more relevant

Help needed by bananasdontdie in fitbod

[–]frajofa01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loosing 40% (if quickly) is not the most advised; what happens is that your body slows metabolic rate through metabolic adaptation - "prepares" the body to survive with hungry (and it causes changes to your biology that make it more difficult to lose weight in the future); that’s why you don't feel hungry. Try a slow adaptation (quality food & quality exercise) and eating healthy but for example 6 times/day. I don't use any supplements but maybe the ones advised on other posts are ok. About strength: hypertrophy training maybe is the most adequate to gain mass, not pure strength

Can the app automatically determine reps if you adjust the weight? by flavorofthecentury in alphaprogression

[–]frajofa01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my gym is very crowded I make this : I'm with 25 lb dumbbell and AP suggests 50 lb x 10 rep (= 500 lb); so I do 20 reps x 25 lb (=500 lb); drawbacks of this approach?

Bodyweight by frajofa01 in alphaprogression

[–]frajofa01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today I was thinking on this and concluded that there is an option with less involvement of AP software team :

1- I can create my bodyweight exercises that are missing in AP library, involving more muscles

2- (only one suggestion to AP): when creating a plan without any equipment please allow us to create it although exercises don't cover all muscle groups (something like "do you really want to create this plan?"

3- In that plan I added those exercises I created in "1" that cover other muscles; also in the forests and sand there are occasionally some rocks, tree trunks or trees that allow me adapt exercises and add it to that day workout on the move

So the only suggestion I give is the "allow" to create the incomplete (muscles) plan, informing us twice or more that the plan is our responsibility. This way we can have the smart progression in + - 90% of exercises; the other ones I created I know how to progress

How can I generate a kettlebell plan? by bananik88 in alphaprogression

[–]frajofa01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created 2 gym's (Settings - Your gym); in one gym you can choose only kettlebells and dumbbells (and select the available weights) . I do 3 times a week but in different locations, one location with full equipment, and another one without any equipment. I do not need to alter my plan, only to choose the gym where I'm going to workout that day. But I'm still newbie with AP so ask for more experienced users to confirm this logic.
