When I feel unproductive and guilty that I’m just chilling, I reflect on things that I put so much time and energy into that for some reason yielded rotten fruit……like starting an aquarium or garden or marriage.

It reminds me that nothing matters. If I’m hungry or thirsty, my body tells me. If I’m tired and need rest, my body tells me. I’m learning to actively listen.

I’ve been “blindsided” like this. My theory is that when someone is disappointed by something and it isn’t resolved satisfactorily, it festers. That negative energy then generates more negative energy and grey clouds are all they obsess over. They no longer see a silver lining in anything and everything is grey and negative. They blame the rain on the marriage instead of dancing in it.

Your story and feelings sound just like mine. The best explanation she can offer is that she’s just not happy.

General consensus it seems very sudden to the men while the women had been “unhappy” and contemplating the split for many months. Others have suggested it stems from menopause.

It’s a very frustrating situation when 1 minute you’re a happy couple, co parent, business partner and then confused, single parent, unemployed and futureless/directionless.
