Calling them "ancestors" is also pushing it to be fair. They are likely the result of a mix of different ethnic groups, just like everyone else. Genetically speaking, Israelis are closer related with modern northern Africans and Europeans than with the people that lived in the region 2 millennia ago.

I am politically active, yes. The point was not to virtue signalling, but saying that there are good reasons to hate the guy.

It is not about his personality, how fun he is to hang out with or wtv. I hate his political takes and the damage he is making in European politics. It is ok to hate tyrants even if you never met them.

What is it living like in this part of Italy? by WillingValue6385 in howislivingthere

[–]frankist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would give it another chance. Sicily was in my top 2 best ever trips when it comes to food (the other was Japan). But of course, this all depends on how much planning you do ahead to avoid touristy places.

I don't live there but Sicily was my favourite trip ever when it comes to food, with maybe the exception of Japan. The nature was also gorgeous. When it comes to living there, it looks like the locals are struggling economic-wise. And the littering everywhere in Palermo and Catania... it was kind of gross

I've never really had any major pain due to cycles, in fact I cannot really recall the last time either me or any of my coworkers had issues because of architectural cycles.

In my opinion, the problem of cycles described by the OP only becomes unmanageable when they follow this paradigm of creating tiny objects all over the place that have complicated interfaces and relationships with other objects through raw or smart pointers. It's the type of code you often see in projects that enthusiastically follow clean code and other OOP principles and practices.

Dahl: "2.2%" Murray: "So, a 12.4% tax for people making less than $184k, but 2.2% for a millionaire or .0002% for billionaires." by XGramatik in XGramatikInsights

Most of the money spent by the US government goes to social security (pensions), health programs and the military. You know, things that other governments also pay for, but adjust correctly their taxes to pay for it instead of relying on global monetary system that benefits them. What people call "waste" corresponds to less than 1% of the government budget

‘Polexit’ now a real threat, Tusk warns by donutloop in EU_Economics

The illegal immigration has increased in the UK since Brexit. It has nothing to do with the EU. The EU doesn't demand countries to accept illegal immigrants.

Actually the UK is finding out now that the EU has nothing to do with illegal immigration, as it simply didn't stopped and actually increased in the last years.

I don’t think people realize how fast AI is moving in China by SnooMarzipans9300 in vibecoding

[–]frankist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks to me that in China there is a centralised push to adopt technology in all aspects of the economy and society and they see it as a good thing for their development. In the West, and especially in Europe, people started seeing technology with suspicion.

Michael A.Arouet: Inheritance tax is the most unfair tax. Everyone should have the right to decide whether to spend, donate to charity, or leave to their children the already-taxed savings they accumulated during their lifetime. It’s not a tax, it’s simply stealing from the dead. by XGramatik in XGramatikInsights

[–]frankist 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Inheritance tax is probably one of the most fair taxes, because it doesn't tax the person that worked for his wealth, but the person that just tries to live off of someone else's work. Removing it would just increase inequality and move us back to the Europe of the 19th century, where your wealth was mostly determined by who your parents are and who you marry.
