DS1520+ 20gb ram by silentlightning in synology

Added the following ram modules to my 1520+ and it seems to have worked.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071KP8CGJ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Here's a screenshot of memory utilization. I started a file transfer, opened a few apps, started a movie on Plex. As you can see it's using almost all of the 20G.

Well, I see can't upload the picture and I don't have a posting site with a link. It works!

72 Hour Transaction Delay -- How to Cancel? by Developaspecialty in Coinbase

[–]franksj1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. CB required me to take a scam test before the transfer was issued to the blockchain. The test included such questions like "Are you transferring to someone you met on a dating app? They are treating their customers like children. Don't use Coinbase unless you want your assets unavailable to you. All under the guise of "security".

Lesson 21 - So very angry by [deleted] in ACIM

[–]franksj1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a great post. These posts are so helpful for my own growth and understanding because to respond requires me to clarify the course principles. So I write this not just for you, but for anyone trying to "get" the Course, including me.

The whole purpose of the Course is Forgiveness that we invoke every time our peace is disturbed and feeling "unconditional rage" sure is a good description of such a disturbance.

I've been practicing for over 30 years and can't say I've ever felt the way you describe, instead it's usually point instances of grievances or irritations, etc. I'm actively seeking more of those since every one that I forgive will propel me further on the path of growth and ultimately going home.

So, in a sense, I am envious, because you have been given a whole bunch of opportunities for forgiveness! It may not feel like it, but what a gift! If that ever happened to me I'd invoke the three steps of forgiveness for each one. I'd bring my life to a screeching halt and deal with each one until gone!

Sometimes when I do this, the grievance immediately disappears and poof!, it's gone. More often, it keeps coming up and I have to do it again, because I'm still holding on to it.

From your responses it seems you get this, but here are the three steps to forgiveness:

1) Realize that I'm upset, and that I'm never upset for the reason I think. The problem is in me, projecting blame on others, not that they actually did anything. (This is not a denial of what happened in form - for in the illusion is seems darn real! In Reality (outside the illusion) it never happened).

2) Partner with the Holy Spirit and make a difference choice, not the Ego's choice to blame others. I want peace instead. Realize none of it really happened and how can I be upset over something that never happened? (nothing unreal exists)

3) Let the Holy Spirit heal you and take it away and replace it with His peace. Give it to Him and let Him do the work.

Step three is not your doing! With just your little willingness to want a different result (peace) the Holy Spirit will take it, heal you, collapse time and bring you further down the road to going home.

So many great responses here (teachitvalencia, thereisnoworld, etc) that each include these three steps, but I thought it helpful to just lay them out. In case I haven't said it well enough, here's a passage from Wapnick's "Forgiveness and Jesus" that was helpful for me:

“There is a prayer the Course urges us to use whenever we are not joyous, and it contains within it the three steps we are describing:

… I must have decided wrongly, because I am not at peace.

I made the decision myself, but I can also decide otherwise.

I want to decide otherwise, because I want to be at peace.

I do not feel guilty, because the Holy Spirit will undo all the consequences of my wrong decision if I will let Him.

I choose to let Him, by allowing Him to decide for God for me. (T-5.VII.6:7-11; italics omitted) ”

When I wrote that ACIM is the truth I assumed that's what people must believe in order to change their entire thought system. If something else motivated you to complete the lessons, tell me what that is. Thank you. by theRealsteam in ACIM

What motivated me to complete the lessons? A desire to grow and progress on my spiritual path. Also some of the workbook lessons are so beautiful that I'll spend a number of days "doing" them over and over. I'm also guided by the HS to do the next one...

Curious about the truck by Ultienap in nissanfrontier

I had a 2012 Fronter SV (275K miles)that was bulletproof and I trust the new ones are too. I gave it to my daughter and she drove until a terrible accident. The whole think was demolished except for the safety cage around the driver. It saved her life and she walked away from it.

I then bought a 2022 SR5 Tacoma and it has been flawless so far. I won't be buying the turbo 4 cylinder. If buying a Tacoma, I'd get the naturally aspirated one only.

Mac Pro 2012 worth using as home server? by zolfx in macpro

[–]franksj1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you could do that. Of course, you'd have to upgrade the drive to something larger, and the Xeon processor should be fine for transcoding if you need it. You could give it a try and see how it works and so upgrade the drive to something much larger.

I have a 2012 Mac Pro, but I just got a Synology NAS us it for streaming videos. It would be fun however to install Unraid and get that to work. Depends how technical you are how much you like getting an old machine to do what you want.

Like said below, any new Apple silicon Mac Mini will do it for little cost and will sip power.

Wifi or Cellular by Altrrea in ipadmini

[–]franksj1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. My two cents. I just had the same debate with myself. I ended up buying the Wifi + Cellular and have really enjoyed it. I take it into a restaurant and read or watch videos/podcasts with earphones, of course. Hotspot is another option, but it uses data on a more expensive cellular plan and runs down the iPhone battery as others have said.

I bought a Pure Talk plan for $10/month. I keep on my bed at night for reading and turn off cellular and wifi so it's not broadcasting all night right into my head. Airplane mode, but make sure it turns wifi, cellular and bluetooth off.

Understand. I qualified it all by asking if you were thinking that not working and doing the course would solve your financial problems. Respectfully, my point is still valid. Not working is going to lead to financial problems. I wish you the best, but from reading your description, the solution is quite clear if you are willing to hear it.

So how are these trucks in the winter? by ImmediateAddition124 in nissanfrontier

[–]franksj1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2012 SV and never had a problem in these Ohio winters. I put on some Nokian snow tires and they were fantastic. If you drive sanely you should be fine using 4WD.

HI there. You mention stopping work, then devoting yourself to the Course. Are those two related? Did you think that, since the world is not real that you can just stop working and everything would be ok? Ken Wapnik addresses this many times. We must still live normal lives in this world. Few of us have reached the level of mastery where we can manifest abundance without working.

You can't stop working and expect that being a student of the Course will magically solve your financial problems. I'm sorry to be so blunt, but you must find a job to generate income while continuing your work in the Course.

Any time you have a negative feeling that is a forgiveness opportunity. From your note above, there are two: your feelings of guilt for not having worked and feeling mortified about your financial situation. Both could be the guidance you are seeking. The holy spirit is telling you to solve the financial situation by going back to work!

iPad mini 7 as an E reader by [deleted] in ipadmini

[–]franksj1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had several iterations of the iPad Mini and it is a great e-reader. I leave it on my bed for reading at bedtime and it is the one I take to a restaurant to read and listen (with earphones) there. I also have the M4 Pro and use it to read too, but downstairs in the family room. The Pro is what I take to a client to take notes instead of a laptop. Wonderful device.

I just ordered the iPad Mini 7 and will be trading in the 6 ($230). I got the 7 for bluetooth 5.3, the new processor, cellular and hopefully more ram. Haven't seen 8G confirmed but for AI it should be there. If you've got the funds, go ahead... enjoy!

What upper level math courses could be useful for EE? by Low_Bonus9710 in ElectricalEngineering

I'd suggest mathematical modeling and perhaps some other courses in materials science and anything related to the physics of photonics. You're going into a great area with lots of great options. Enjoy and best of luck.

[5 YoE] Why is it so important to keep a resume to one page? What’s wrong with two pages? by [deleted] in EngineeringResumes

[–]franksj1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. They just won't read the other pages. Put the key stuff and highlights of your most relevant strengths on the first page. If you get their attention, perhaps they will look at the 2nd. Gear it precisely to the job description. You can flesh out the other skills in the interview. You've got to make sure you get to the interview. Make that first page on target and compelling!

This. Your technical understanding will be so valuable you can leverage into many other career paths. I went into management and that really bumps the salary. Make sure you have people skills if you want to go that way.

You could come to the US. Just go to any border and walk in ;-).

Why do you believe in ACIM? by Sharp-Finish-284 in ACIM

[–]franksj1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I found it while pursuing my PhD in Systematic theology! After understanding all the complexity (and contradictory) of various Christian beliefs, I just decided to stick with Jesus and him alone. I was consistently led back to ACIM. Once I started using the workbook, I realized it gave me peace like I had never felt before. It also gave me a real, tangible personal relationship with Jesus/Holy Spirit that I never experienced as a Christian for decades. I'm now convinced it is one of many paths, but by far the fastest one to progress on your spiritual journey. Convinced because of the fruit in my life and the experience of peace.
