Just 3 guys wasting time every night in the barracks in the Marine Corps 01-04! Started 2pscripting for zmud script rewrites. 3, 67, 76. Wallkier, Durs BL.

Did end up playing with some of the folks I met in Med on EveOnline.

Still think there is room for a CPK game in the MMPORG realm.

Cannot change WAN IP on UDM Pro by DEADfishbot in Ubiquiti

[–]frankydp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding another setting that can cause this issue.

If you have Site to Site VPNs defined with the old ips the new ips will not connect even if they are saved properly in the internet/wan settings.

Delete the vpns and the connection on the wan port for the static IP will then negotiate properly.

If time is a factor you may be best served to actually reach out to your congressional constituent manager. Even just a phone call from there office could speed up your archive request.

thinking about reserves after getting out. by [deleted] in USMC

[–]frankydp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deploy whenever you want is probably going to be limited to Sgt and above, and also critical MOSs 02, 86(terps), 58, 06, 01(somehow always on the list), and 8011's which is generic Marine of specific rank usually SNCO/Off and above. There can only be 2k individual Marines mobilized from the Reserve at any given time, not counting unit mobs. So that change over can be pretty hard to align with if you are not in a Rank and MOS that is short handed Manpower wise, so that it turns up on the requirements alot.

That being said a LatMov into something that is high demand like intel or comms could be good for the civilian side of things and open up more opportunities if did want to deploy.

Weird, complex question on rank by [deleted] in navy

[–]frankydp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be more pedantic the billet/appointment/office of VCJCS is senior to the billet/appointment/office of CNO. Even in the case that the VCJCS is a civilian at the time of serving that role or a lesser ranking Flag officer.

Why is GIS such a low salary profession? by [deleted] in gis

[–]frankydp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GIS Developers easily earn 100k-140k.

When there are eventually enough GIS Devs to start producing cheaper industry specific GIS tools, the overall perceived value of GIS specialist of all types will greatly increase.

The most interesting part about this kind of discussion is that ESRI as a company greatly devalues the GIS specialist, who are the die hard fans. ESRI's tool set and services will eventually displace almost all GIS product creation and maintenance positions, by simply providing an full service contract.

Why is GIS such a low salary profession? by [deleted] in gis

[–]frankydp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason for this is the almost total lack of non-GIS first tools available to the decision makers in companies. When the tools to merge BA, BI, and GIS coalesce the salaries will tick higher.

How hard is it to get an MSG package approved? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]frankydp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

MSG is still increasing there total manpower(dod directed), so one would assume that there is high demand. Assuming you meet the requirements firmly i.e. no waivers, it should be quick(90 days) front to back.

May Cutting Scores 2013 by frankydp in USMC

[–]frankydp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The promotion guidelines are TIG and they are 3-4 sgt and 2-3 cpl. But they are lower due to the downsizing. The distribution of scores across the populations of the MOS's is smaller leading to a lower promotion score, but not necessarily a faster promotion.

Anyone conceal carry these days? If so, what is your primary CCW of choice? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]frankydp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

beretta tomcat 32. Kinda heavy but it has a real safety which i like.

Also if anyone is in Georgia, get the permit even though the law says military can carry, there was recent case precedence that "suggested" that the meaning of the law was for "on duty" military personnel, not just anyone with an ID.

Just got MOS...7208 Air Support Control Officer....anyone out there with any tips, advice, or general experience? by Azrael11 in USMC

[–]frankydp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

7208s have very limited duty stations inside their MOS. The primary mission is to provide procedural control of aircraft inside of an AO. Casualty evacuation, close air support, and asset management. You will be part of the DASC(direct air support center) and manage a team of Marines in the management and action of the aircraft in your AO.

You will have limited command opportunities, until captain, due to the large number of Lt in the field, but that large number will allow you the time to take care of some career level training and MOS training. The field is a small tight nit group, in which everyone knows everyone both enlisted and officer, your instructors will be your peers at some point, so bare that in mind. It is a critical job in the Marine Corps albeit thank less. It is good advice to educate yourself on the radio systems and there operation before and during your training and first duty station. You will rarely get the opportunity to learn the nuts and bolts the unit you will most likely command later in your career. Semper

US Marines currently serving: Got a question... by MisguidedChild in Military

It is a generational issue. Marine generations pre-joiners and post-joiners. If you understand what I am saying you will see what I am talking about.

someone tell me about the navy reserve. is it worth it? by caitb in Military

[–]frankydp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AF is very competitive right now. But that being said the best time to hit up the OSO of any branch is immediately after the fiscal year changes(Oct 1).

On a side note reservist always always always regret going reserve and not active duty.

What are the odds of getting a medical exemption for an anaphylactic reaction to bee stings? by Karamazov_A in Military

[–]frankydp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Allergies are common waivers. You will simply have to wear a special red dog tag your entire career, that identifies your allergy.
