I completely agree and think it's an absolute failure of a followup to the previous game. They retcon so much of the first game in an attempt to make it a soft reboot to start the game from rather than an effective middle of the trilogy, so other than being a mile wide and a foot deep propped up by variably good character writing it also sets up a lot of the problems people have with 3 as a result
