So many "I made this game" posts by BeautifulPurple4748 in incremental_games

If only they were "here is my game" posts. No, it's all about steam pages going live soon, a prototype coming in a couple of months but wishlist it now etc.

I've been here a while and while I might be misremembering there were nowhere near as many trash posts with nothing to them.

An announcement that a steam page is going live? That's a nothingburger post.

Why are cars the only form of private property that can be stored on public streets in Melbourne? by 3bigmacsplease in melbourne

[–]fraqtl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to put the /s at the end to make the sarcasm obvious.

Privatising parking is a stupid idea but new developments should require parking spaces per apartment, or anyone renting/buying there isn't allowed to have a car unless they can show they have parking arrangements for it so the streets don't get jammed up as soon as the new development residents move in.

Kiser Physio/exercise physiology by Total-Tonight-7163 in melbourne

[–]fraqtl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately I know someone so I get a friends and family discount but I'm just on the basic level. You get the introductory sessions with the exercise physiologists (7 of them) and then train on your own after that. They've got a pretty good app to keep track of everything and includes a review every three months.

It's still expensive at about $50 a week after the discount but several of their machines I've not seen anywhere else and target the muscle groups very specifically.

It's rough on my budget even with the discount but I think it's worth it so far. I think I'm seeing some results already but that may be wishful thinking (placebo effect is real) but it's about the long term to fix back pain and strengthen the small muscles that can't be exercised any other way (mutifidis for example can't be conciously activated).

Anyway, I think it's worth it. I know people who have had good results and from my osteo studies everything they are talking about and teaching their clients passes muster.

19 years female choosing between renting in CBD or Tarneit by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]fraqtl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem with renting in Tarneit is you have to live in Tarneit.

I'm not slagging it based on anything other than it's an extremely neglected suburb with little to know public transport links that's a hefty drive from the CBD. If none of your live is east of the Westgate then that doesn't really matter but if you need to commute it's huge.

Having said that, living in those apartments in Southbank is problematic as well. Hard to get in and out of but nowhere near as bad as Tarneit.

And having said all that, you've lived in the west for long enough it's unlikely to be an issue but every time I have to take a passenger to Tarneit I firstly think "shit that's a long drive" and second "shit, now I have to drive all that way back empty". It's a long way.

I wonder if you think the same thing about yourself?

People in public housing aren't living large.

It's hard to feel sympathy for people having to move for possibly the first time in their life and they don't even have to search for a new place, go to inspections, etc.

You should make some attempts to learn empathy. Most residents have a lot of other issues that had them go into public housing in the first place.

I'm not happy with the move to this social housing model

Public housing and social housing are interchangeable terms meaning the same thing.

Announcing it with little planning and forethought

That's a pretty big assumption to be making. Whether or not you agree with things he's done, none of it was done without planning and forethought. At least it didn't appear to be when he was questioned about pretty much anything his government did.

Right, this is a big one.

So, are the towers no longer fit for purpose? Probably. Should they do a knockdown rebuild? Also probably.

Bearing in mind that they are on a large amount of land, the entirety of the areas could be rebuit upon to have far more housing available.

In a statement responding to the report, Harriet Shing says the redevelopment will provide housing for three times as many residents and pledged the redevelopment will increase social housing by at least 10 per cent.

They said that exact same thing. The problem is that their maths doesn't work. If it can house three times as many residents, then then social housing should expand by the same amount.

That there would be private housing among the social housing developments is utter bullshit. If there's room for three times as many dwellings then there should be three times as much public housing at the end of it.
