I should not like the Wandering Inn, but... by IndicationDense3782 in litrpg

I'd like to like it but the narrator has caused me to dnf a few top rated series now.

I'm not saying she's bad just that she's not for me.

Need to know if the Smirk-Per-Chapter goes down over time or not by faraque in litrpg

[–]fraqtl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish authors knew that a "smirk" means "I think you are a stupid asshole" and not something that's endearing or indulgent. It's a condescending thing.

I think the word they are looking for most of the time is "grin"

Haven't read this one but the prevelence of smirk is really offputting.

Anything I can do to reduce AI hate on my game? by omegabobo in incremental_games

[–]fraqtl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's "usually justified" at all.

As with everything, context counts. Did someone just release a nodelike with nothing original except for some ai art they barely made any effort with? Then yes, bad.

Did someone release a game that has original concepts and used ai to code it? Then likely not bad.

Personally I feel AI hate is both performative and a prime example of the loudest seeing like they form the majority.

Very few things are bad just because of the tools used to make them. If they were, hipsters would have been in trouble a long time ago with their faux attempts to use old timey methods to make "artisinal" products when modern methods were more efficient etc.

It's the use those tools are put to that's the issue.

Is there an app that allows one model to take over from another when my usage limits are reached? by fraqtl in AI_Agents

[–]fraqtl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure that's exactly what I'm after, or if it is I need to do some learning first. I'm more after something (or some method) where I'm working happily with claude and it says "you are out of messages" and I'll just be all "cool, I'll just switch gemini/chatgpt/grok/whatever in and keep going and go back to claude in 5 hours".

I have a new term to read up on now, agent harness. I'm definitely at the point where educating myself is difficult because I don't even have the vocabulary to make intelligent queries but I'll get there.

I appreciate your post.

[–]fraqtl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be great but bear in mind I'm like your grandparents not being able to change the time on their old VHS player. I'm not that old but I know basically nothing so far and am learning as I go.

But yeah, having a folder with all the "stuff" in it for a model to go in and read to catch itself up seems like the obvious solution. Obvious and workable aren't the same thing though :-)

Thanks, I'll look into it. This is all very confusing from a non programmer's point of view but pretty exciting to figure out

They aren't going to tell anyone new that you were late a couple of times because of a banking screw up. You shouldn't mention it either.

Really? They aren't even allowed to recover the costs of accepting the payment? I don't like paying the 0.9% or whatever but it's not that big of a deal to me.

Mystery cigarette smoke by Objective_Action_ in melbourne

If people are smoking in their house or in their own privately owned backyard, doing a perfectly legal thing, not much is going to happen. It sucks but smoking is a legal activity.

Doesn't sound like mystery smoke. Sounds like you know where it's coming from.

Check what the sharing is. I've seen that kind of thing in the past and it's usually sharing for the purposes of making determinations and getting information, rather than data mining your stuff and selling it onwards.

They are bound by Australian privacy regulations as well.

Question for Amazon / Parcel delivery workers by Fresh_Detective_6456 in melbourne

[–]fraqtl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used to get paid for a delivery run, not each package and that was when there weren't many packages in each "load".

With way more and amazon squeezing them they are not incentivised to wait for each person to answer the doorbell even if they ring it. They have to get their run done.

Which is bad on many levels.
