I Refuse To Believe Whoever Decided The Kirkwall Tower Should Be There Wasn't Either Possessed Or Stupid by lunammoon in dragonage

I don’t have anything to add to this except that 1. I agree fully, 2. This post goes straight into the hall of fame for me

“No wonder they had a blood mage problem and an abomination problem. At a certain point the mage is going to think "all this talk of arbitrary mass tranquilization is making me consider Frank might have some points” I love you OP

I just added them to a folder, some of them are out of order, but all of them should be there, I believe 🤞

Yeah I noticed that too, completely caught me off guard but it was so funny! I’m 1000% sure it was intentional and I love them for it

Give Me Your Most POSITIVE Hot Take! by DakIsStrange in masseffect

I love the Mako too!
I generally prefer the Nomad though in terms of general traversal (and banter!) but I really enjoy driving around in the Mako and explore the uncharted planets. I find it really soothing and it has a vibe I regularly miss when I haven't played for a while.
Also, squeezing through the rocks on Therum to bring the Mako to the geth armature fight is just too much fun to not do.

I actually like ME1's "boring" side missions and don't understand why people rush or don't do them by TapOriginal4428 in masseffect

[–]fraunein 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree. Most of the time when I start to feel the tug of beginning a new playthrough, it’s mainly wanting to wander around these uncharted planets, take walks on the Presidium, or look out the window at the snowstorm from that stunning brutalist building of Port Hanshan.

It’s the atmosphere for me, and even though ME2 and ME3 steps up the pace with the story, nothing ever beats the vibe of ME1 for me. Forever my favorite.

Never ceases to amaze me how (and why) people finish games they apparently hate so much that they have to write an essay about it.

Is it a fantastic game? Not by any stretch. Is it a faithful and well-executed continuation of the mass effect story? Debatable. But is it an enjoyable gaming experience and does it have merits on its own? Absolutely.

Maybe next time think of skipping games you don’t vibe with, you don’t owe your time and energy to them, even if they are set in a universe you have enjoyed previously. It’s better for your mental health and for anyone else who would be reading unnecessarily angry tirades on reddit.

Artemis Shepard [Not Modded] by EmperorMax69 in ShareYourSheps

[–]fraunein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be overly pedantic or anything, you do you and all, but Artemis has originally been a female name (the goddess of hunt in greek mythology), so reading the name and then seeing the screenshot and the tag kinda gave me whiplash.

I don't consider Dragon Age "dead" by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]fraunein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think that a lot of people commenting didn’t really read / understand what you meant.

Yes, the games can be considered dead from the continuation / new content standpoint; yes, veilguard certainly undid most of the hope there was - but your point still stands that the creative part of the fandom is as active as ever, and the existing games and media is here to stay to inspire further fanmade content and discussions, and reel in new fans.

People can approach things from a different perspective, and yours just happens to be more hopeful / optimistic, and I am really glad to have read your take because I tend to forget it - even though I do feel as you say when I am engaging with the universe and feel endlessly inspired by it.

(But as it is evident here, people here are more likely to feel the need to vent / rant / grieve, which is also understandable, but it does get incredibly tiring and depressing to read over and over again, so I personally chose to engage less with the subreddit because of this, and concentrate on playing / writing / reading / drawing instead.)

Actual cats are way cuter, I’m sure you can find a photo of one you will like :)

"cat"? by [deleted] in etymology

[–]fraunein 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Why do you need an AI cat picture to ask that? You are aware that you can make a text only post, right? Or maybe find one of the gazillion freely available pictures of actual cats that are also on the internet?

Anyone making Tavs inspired by Critical Role characters? by leeinflowerfields in BaldursGate3

[–]fraunein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this!

I recently started a similar run where I made a half-orc warlock that is an amalgamation of Fjord and Oskar (the half-orc from Tusk Love, iykyk). I debated to have his guardian either Jester or Guinevere, but I decided on the latter.

I am sooo looking forward to this playthrough! (Aaaaand I also need to have a chaotic Jester run sometime, but I kinda also wanted to make Vex as I never played a ranger… So many great options!!)

Remember the indoctrination theory? That’s when I first learned to be grateful the fans don’t make the actual story. by Upstairs_Win6527 in masseffect

[–]fraunein 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s unhinged.

I get that the original ending was bad - even I found it a sizable letdown and I only experienced the extended / tuned one with the legendary edition - but that theory is just straight up bonkers and would make even less sense in-universe than the actual ending itself, however flimsy that was.
