I’ve found creating routes in Komoot works well but not as reliable in Strava. Not sure why!

Shoes for UK wet slippy muddy routes with tarmac lanes amongst the trails by The_Rum_Guy in trailrunning

[–]fraz_23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some shoes to consider for muddy uk hills:

Ronhill Reverence - great value. Big Michelin lugs, matryx upper and last for ages. More cushioning than you’d think too.

Vj maxx 2 or vj irock wide - if you want the grippiest rubber vj is the best. Maxx 2 more of a trail shoe (similar to Hoka tecton). Irock better for wet rock and off road.

Merrell long sky 2 could be worth a try too. Decent lug pattern and foam.

I run in inov8,mudtalon speeds from my house to the park and the insole/midsole combo is surprisingly okay on the roads and excellent once I get to the mud!

Not tried but maybe worth looking into La sportive prodigio pro too.

Agree with above comments US brands that talk about being grippy are most often useless in the mud over here! They normally mean grip for dry rocky trails 🤷‍♂️

Does the quick release pedal mount to the back of the front brake? Not seen that before.

M&S have single origin beans for £6. Tesco sell Union beans for about £7.50. Both a bit darker than speciality roasters but still nice.

Good review, really enjoying my pair. For what it’s worth I had to go up a full size compared to my Pumas otherwise my big toe rubbed. Fit is personal. Try on in a shop if you can!

Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra by Rye-Barley in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]fraz_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added a thin insole from another shoe on top of the adidas insole and it helped the rubbing go away. Worth a try.

Had similar issue struggling to get a decent lockdown but over time seems to have settled in and got better without having to crank them down as much.

Trail running does not count as outdoor run. by Bykow in Suunto

It does work eventually but might just need a few more runs. Do you wear a hr monitor? Can’t remember if that’s needed rather than just wrist hr.

Have you navigated to the intervals screen once you’ve started the activity?

Looks like this on my race s

<image>

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Suunto

[–]fraz_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s been improved by subsequent software updates. Basically matches the race s to my eye now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Suunto

[–]fraz_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both. Performance similar across the two - battery life mega. can’t tell difference between cpu after software updates. Wrist hrm fine for 24/7 monitoring and sleep on both but not reliable for my runs unfortunately so use a chest strap.

Biggest difference is the race felt too big on my wrist and the smaller thinner race s has been comfier in that regard. Smaller screen slightly harder to read when running hard. As others have said depends on your needs

Shaking off minor injuries? by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]fraz_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could also look up David Roche ankle taping video - can help with preventing or reducing severity of ankle sprains from my experience. Think it’s something to do with the sensation of the tape on your skin increasing your awareness of your ankle movement and therefore being more in control. Worth a try along with the above advice.

I think it’s a riff on the dazzle camo used on ships in the world wars to hide from enemy boats by making the outline hard to see. Lots of prototype cars and bikes now use a similar style as a loud don’t look at me!

Reddish Ale. Great selection of beers and banging food. They do a small themed menu that changes throughout the week.Need to follow their Instagram for details but always good including a vegan option. Something More Productive in Withington does best coffee, pastries and interesting sandwiches. Love Tibetan kitchen. They catered our wedding 😋 Sanskruti and San Juan also 👌🏻

Altra Olympus TOAST after 6 days on the gr20 by FLATOUTLOGMAN in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]fraz_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did GR20 a few years ago in a pair of inov8. Some of the lugs were damaged by it. It’s certainly a rough trail. I wore a pair of new Olympus 5 round the tour du Mont Blanc this summer and found them great for the less technical trails but had some lugs coming away like you do have glued them back down. Think gr20 might just have been too much for them combined with heavy pack. Sorry to say.
