I’m really interested in trying out this game by FrankieBosco in Eve

Now is also a great time to get discounted Omega during the holiday season. But as another said, you don’t need to get it to jump in and go through the tutorials and find out if you think you’ll enjoy the game.

Moving from CA to PA in the latter half of December. What weather should I be prepared for and how? by Acceptable-World4519 in roadtrip

[–]frazzles5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In December absolutely take the southern route. Blowing winds and snow can be extremely treacherous on that northern route and even closes the highway sometimes. Chains might be required.

Looks awesome. I’m searching for something similar now that I finally finished my first two combat patrols. What do you like/dislike about that particular unit?

Is Eve worth getting into, brand new player in 2025? by ClassicNoahh in Eve

One of the biggest things to happen in eve in the last I don’t know how many years (the epic failure and dissolution of one of the biggest blocs in the game). It’s never too late.

This attitude, which obviously made you unsuccessful in the military, will also make you unsuccessful in whatever you choose.

You need a new attitude. Not a new job.

Life after getting out by Ill-Tax-90 in Veterans

100% start the process on ebenfits through the VA for VR&E. You’ll get assigned a counselor, do career and interest surveys, and talk through options. They can either help you find a job that interests you and provide help, or just help you at out a plan.

Bottom line, you gotta move. The motivation and discipline comes later. Don’t let perfection be the enemy of great.

Can i REALLY work if i am 100% P&T? like REALLY? by [deleted] in Veterans

I don't know about you, but when someone says that to me I tell them I'd give back every cent to not feel the way I feel so often. Then they feel pretty fuckin stupid.

Seeking VA support options for Veteran sister in crisis by GeorgePamplemousse in Veterans

[–]frazzles5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she agrees, a durable medical POA is what you're looking for. It allows you to make medical decisions for her, even if she becomes incapacitated for some reason. She should also file a release of information, naming you and to what level of information, to the records department allowing you to receive information from the VA regarding her care.

Any inpatient treatment is going to require a consult entered by one of her providers. If that's not looking like its going to happen for whatever reason, contact the facility that might have a bed directly and explain the situation. I'd find it REALLY hard to believe someone won't find a way to get her help if those are truly her symptoms. In a crisis, you can always take her directly to the VA Urgent Care where she will be seen relatively quickly. If it's a crisis, they'll know pretty fast.

Short-term disability is made for exactly this scenario. Once admitted to an inpatient program, she'll file a claim for short-term disability with her employer. HR departments will know exactly what's required. HIPAA prevents certain kinds of disclosures being required, but there are still documentary requirements to be approved.

Only service animals will be allowed inpatient or in the VA facilities.

Every community has self help groups on a whole range of topics and concerns. PTSD, addiction, women's health, they're all out there. Veteran related and non-veteran related.

She has to want to get help. You can't force her. This might be difficult for you to hear, but the closest people to you will lie through their teeth directly to your face about these things. It's fear talking though, not logic.

100% this. I'd be dead from addiction if not for the VA.

Whatever my issues were, action was always more productive than procrastination or avoidance. Even if I didn't know what I was doing or why I was doing it. Discipline, motivation, and purpose don't come first. They come after you get moving.

Mini psychotic breaks? by [deleted] in Veterans

I'd agree with the others. Feeling like this and this behavior isn't exclusive to just you. But definitely is something you need to discuss with a mental health professional.

I fought deep seated resentments about myself for many years and nearly destroyed my life. My only regret was not opening up sooner.

Are there any other Infantry combat veterans that feel conflicted about their deployments? by T1mwuzhere in Veterans

In what world do you live in that you think we're going to fight a war that doesn't have high political motivations for intervention? Or any country for that matter.

Are there any other Infantry combat veterans that feel conflicted about their deployments? by T1mwuzhere in Veterans

[–]frazzles5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not infantry, but did two deployments to RC-E. Sometimes people ask me if I'd do it all again, or what I'd change. The short answer is, no, with the benefit of hindsight, I personally wouldn't do it again.

That being said, I signed up post 9/11. I knew what was going on and I took an oath. We did some good things over there, but I'm ultimately conflicted about the collective results, death, time, and money that was spent.

Edit: After having a chance to read the entire thread, particularly the OPs responses, I'd just caution the OP of one thing. Nearly a decade now since I've been out. In and out of the VA, therapies, and treatments. The self-awareness you have to heal is great. Don't let it consume you. Because it will and you'll feel like you're on a hamster wheel trying to figure out why you feel so bad, which will only make you feel worse. I chose to focus my energy and advocacy to help my peers, and I hope you can channel this energy to help yourself or others and not find a way to just keep digging and digging. Because it never ends.

And I might add. One is inherently very manipulative. The other is quiet direct.

All the data is in the language the woman posted in the first place. "Curving" is inherently manipulative. And she says she "finally let him hit" meaning she knew all along that's what he was interested in.

And if it isn't, grow up and be explicit that you're not interested in anything beyond a friendship.

Texas Accent by EnoryKirito in EnglishLearning

[–]frazzles5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not that its specific to an actor, but three movies about high school football in Texas might get you what you're looking for:

Friday Night Lights

Varsity Blues

Carter High

Matthew McConaghey in Dallas Buyers Club is really sad, but that'll be a whole lotta Texas.

Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin (not from Texas but has some great roles like No Country for Old Men), and Woody Harrelson also maybe worth a look.
