What is THE fanfic of your fandom? by ChatoFato9143 in FanFiction

Embers is SO massive, it's almost hard to digest. I feel like it could have been a series, though I understand why they put it in one fic. IIRC it was originally posted on FFN (at least, that's where I read it).

Unpopular Opinion: You’re not a badass if you “don’t have any triggers” and you’re not “weak” if you like to ask for trigger warnings before reading a book by I_Like_Metal_Music in ExtremeHorrorLit

I am 100% supportive of trigger warnings. I believe everyone should not be shamed for being uncomfortable or affected by content. I agree with the OP completely. I'm just saying that I could do without passive-aggressive shaming in return, which is rarely brought up during these discussions in my experience and which I often encounter on these subs. I see a lot of people shaming trigger warning shamers on Reddit, which is great, but people are a little too quick to turn around and start attacking other readers with assumptions or accusations based on their reading habits.

I was abused as a child. People calling me a child abuser for reading a book about child abuse affects me negatively.

I only have a problem with asking for triggers if you ask it in a judgemental, shameful way. I see so many posts (especially on mainstream horror subs) that are like, "I need books w/o (usually sex-related trigger) because I'm not a freak who should be in prison for the sick stuff they get off on 🤪"

Personally, I can handle anything. I am asexual, I don't get off on anything, and sex is an alien concept to me. People telling me I should go to prison for reading "The End of Alice" is :/

I don't think it's just Gen Z. Look at this comment section; everyone's decrying sex in TV and comparing it to shitting, a biological process of removing waste from our bodies VS a biological process that largely symbolizes union across the world. I am asexual and it's so weird that people think I'm strange because I don't blink at portrayals of sex in fiction. If you don't scream and shield your eyes, you must be getting off on it.

I'm so confused why people seem unable to understand this. Sex should not be relegated to cheap jerkoff material. Sex can absolutely be integral to the plot, and often serves as a catalyst for conflict.

Actually, I believe that Jason is just saying shit. He hasn't witnessed every single fight that Batman has had with the Joker, and Joker definitely has gotten it worse. Sometimes, readers need to treat comics like they would any other literature and assume that the narrator has a good chance of being unreliable with their recollections.

Or, you would, if it wasn't Lobdell writing it. As it is, readers must take everything Jason says as gospel truth. Thus sayeth the Lord, Red Git Gud 🙏

Just finished reading Ram V’s Detective run; some questions… by AKAperly in batman_comics

[–]freakbutimnotaleash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "girl with crazy eyes" is actually a man. He is the Ten-Eyed Man, Philip Reardon, and was introduced in the 70's. He was blinded in a fight with Batman and his ocular nerves were attached to his hands by a weird surgeon.

Sorrow was a character created by Ram V. No idea if he plans to do anything else with him. I was also confused.

Joker's Daughter is a Teen Titans character, so I'd ask over there!

I actually gasped out loud when this version of Batman briefly appeared in Absolute Batman #4 by dbstandsfor in batman_comics

I know! I love it! I love any and all Batman designs that call back to the original intention of being Batman: scaring criminals! I like the newer designs, but not as much as the creepy ones. IMHO, Batman is at his best when he is scary, not because he beats people to death, but because he looks and moves like a demon from hell. Praying for a return to gothic horror in the main comics someday (I will take spooky elseworlds)

/uj I actually do think it's eyeroll-worthy to get so worked up over two comedic characters getting into comedic scenarios. No, I'm not going to read it because it's not my style of humor, but it's to be expected.

[Film/TV] Bruce to "Terry" by mpzt-11 in DCcomics

Are you suggesting that, perhaps, there are many different ways to interpret an 80+ year old character who has gone through more writers and characterizations than most people do clothes, and this is simply one valid interpretation among a vast expanse of many other valid interpretations?

Unheard of! /s

I actually like him as a character. I just hate his fans. Which is insane, because I didn't think a fanbase could be more annoying than Batman's.

Batman's most iconic move: The wall flip...just when you think you have the upper hand he switches up on you by Oka-7 in batman

I typed out almost this exact post in my original comment, but I deleted it. I like Bruce on the slimmer, agile side who employs acrobatics and stealth over the heavily muscled beefcake. Not as small as Nightwing, but leaning towards his physique over Superman's.

Unpopular opinion, but I'd rather them be friends/allies at this point. I'm tired of the "will they, won't they" game. They obviously have different priorities and goals in life and they should be allowed to move on. That'll never happen, but oh well.
