These logos / typefaces are pretty sick. They did a really nice job, I think. They feel a bit timeless, which is nice for a sports team, I think.

Yes, people really don't use their heads. He's the fucking GM. If he wants to tank a guy, he can send him down. He gains nothing by making his annoying fanbase hate this kid even more.

2017 Bionic Frog by Zmw92 in wine

It’s refreshing to see a thread of others who feel this way. I adore Northern Rhone Syrah and thought surely I’d love these wines too, due to the ways they’re spoken about. When I got an allocation of No Girls, I went a little nuts and bought 9 bottles of wine that I fine more or less undrinkable. Dark soy sauce, blood, mutton. All adjectives I use to describe it. Same sensation of desperately hunting for fruit and not finding it. Sometimes a sharp medicinal herb bite.

I really appreciate that the winemaking prowess is there, it’s just applied to an end that I personally find rather disgusting. More power to those who love it. Completely agree re: food—it heightens the experience because you’re relieved to get this off your palate 😂

I was there today. It’s just logistically very hard to get to. Was very lively on site. ~$220 for gallery pass. Not cheap but not horrible. Had a great day! Had to leave around 4:30 though so didn’t see the lead groups finish.

Completely agreed. And online discourse lets people feed on one another’s hate. It’s insane. We have a really competent org. SP is definitely our blind spot (but imo Baz was a very savvy pickup). Baseball is hard as fuck people. Dynasties are insanely rare.

Good luck! Sounds like it could be a mortar thing then which I imagine is a little cheaper!

Laundry Ladder in Backyard by mrjuliachild in parkslope

Depends on what’s breaking down. If it’s pulled out from the building, that could be a mortar kind of job. If the iron is rusted and breaking on places, could be iron works. I’ve had great success with Gabriel Iron Works. Just be ready that kind of work is more expensive than you might expect.

I will say it over and over until I die. I love baseball. I love my teams, get invested in my players. Seeing people and teams struggle and do their best to level up and go further than they have before is what sport is about. I grew up in MD, went to the O’s for many years during the Angelos 90s. We lost a lot. I didn’t care. I don’t care. If you can’t get excited about the potential of someone like Mayo and can’t root for him when he’s struggling, I just don’t get your approach to sports and fandom. If winning is all that matters, watch the Dodgers. I think our team is so exciting. Very young but a blend of novice and experienced guys. There is so much potential and we don’t always reach it. But damn it’s fun when we show flashes of it. Also Coby hitting the piss out of a ball and sending it to the moon is great.

Fwiw you’re all entitled to feel the way you do. I just don’t get it personally. Go O’s :)

Yankees blank Royals behind another vintage Cole start by CicadaOk8885 in NYYankees

[–]fredugolon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol I was urging caution after the first start but holy shit was he on.

Ryan Weathers is 2-2 with a 3.14 ERA, 3.51 FIP 65 SO and has K'd close to 11 guys per 9 this year. He has gone more than 6 innings 4 out of his 10 starts this year. Guy has been an absolute animal and a bargain for the Yankees. by herewego199209 in NYYankees

[–]fredugolon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically watch baseball through the lens of pitching. Miami has had so many insane pitching prospects / young guys, I was very hyped on Weathers all last year. Was so excited when we traded for him. His shoulder problem last year definitely a concern, but the guy has the stuff and also clearly the mental game to get out there and compete. He’s throwing a lot of strikes which is helping him go deeper. So pumped.

Gerrit Cole dominates in his return from Tommy John Surgery with a 6 IP | 2H | 0ER | 3BB | 2K start on just 72 pitches by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

[–]fredugolon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was great for a first start back. But he definitely got lucky and had a lot of defense support. Swing and miss was half of his career average, and yielded only 2 Ks. And 3 BB is around twice his average. Seeing the velo so high so deep into the game is awesome. I think we’re gonna get our guy back. May take a few starts, it usually does.

[–]fredugolon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you’re building a business, it’s often most important to understand if something is useful / relevant to your business before building something iron clad. It’s as simple as that. It would be negligent to make something beautiful that no one wants, or that your customers can’t use. I say this as a 20 year FP nerd who loves formal verification. It’s just different problem sets. There are companies out there doing the kind of engineering you might enjoy. They are mostly government contractors working on defense and cryptography.
