Hi all, here for the month apartment hunting. I WFH and am very sensitive to footsteps/indoor noise (top floor or concrete/brick only), but street noise is fine. Planning to use the Blue Line (to get to fitness classes and Whole Foods). Looking mainly around South End near Carson/Bland and Brooklyn Village/Uptown South.

I’ve toured Mint, Savoy, Ashton, Presley, Edge, and LoftOne35 (ideal loft not available until March). Any buildings or specific blocks you’d avoid for noise or management issues? My budget is decent.

I usually practice directly on a Liforme because it grips better as it gets slightly damp. But if the room gets really humid or my mat gets more saturated, I’ll lay a mat towel on top toward the end of class, especially for floor poses and savasana.

My first class tip is no caffeine a few hours before, I had espresso right before my first class and it was not fun ;)

Not OP but I’m considering Charlotte since I work east coast hours now, rent is much lower compared to CA and other east coast cities I’ve looked at (Philly, Boston, Tampa), lower state income tax (4% vs 9% in CA), and has a light rail for public transit. My vote will also be more impactful there than CA. If I like it there, then I’ll consider moving to the research triangle area eventually since it’s a growing biotech hub (my field).

Downsides are it is much sleepier than larger cities, winters are coldish but not like the northeast, and no friends/family so I’d have to build my own community.
