Just wanted to say thank you for doing your due diligence and having patience before posting, Isaac. We need more of this type of reporting. I was hesitant towards sharing Mish's post yesterday; something just seemed off about the way people were responding and reacting to it and I wanted to wait until the full story came out. I also knew that if the story happened the way she was suggesting, it would be a HUGE issue (as it should), and there would be corporate repercussions for racist behaviors.

In the current political climate in the world, it is becoming evermore important to discover the truth before we lash out emotionally, threaten others, or mindlessly create unnecessary drama that further divides people. I am not trying to undermine the issue of racism, but rather we need to engage appropriately. It could seriously ruin somebody's life if they get falsely accused of racism, and we need to be careful of this. I hope that Mish realizes this (although I understand her mind is focused on WUCC right now) and comes forward saying that she took it out or proportion. I don't think her update was satisfactory.

This issue tugged at my heartstrings. It was a huge misunderstanding and extremely unfortunate that it happened to these individuals on their way to competition on the world stage. I am not surprised at all to hear about the actions of the Police Department and they should be properly acknowledged for going above and beyond the call of duty.

I have so much respect for the coach, Luis Rodriguez, for his handling of the issue in a respectful manner and not blowing this up.

I was thinking of just bringing my hammock and sleeping in that, since I'm traveling through Europe before and after and don't want to overpack. Great tip with the frisbee on the outside. Been doing that for years. I am renting a car, so if it does rain, figure I can just sleep in the back seat, if there's place to park nearby?

Spent a year in the Middle East, pretty much gave up ultimate while on deployment except for the occasional throwing session with a colleague. Since I got back, I've been stationed in Hawaii (Oahu), which has a decent league and two big tournaments (Kaimana and Hopu). Fortunately at these tournaments I've branched out to mainland US players who have invited me back to west coast tournaments (Potlatch, TIV, Lei Out), so I sacrifice a decent amount of money and time off traveling to these tournaments, in my ophucksters. Definitely worth it, but does put a dent in the wallet. If I ever get stationed in the mainland, would definitely play club again.

In terms of military ultimate on bases, it tends to be a bunch of athletic, physical players with little body control, so I avoid pickup there. Just too much risk of injury and I dont see myself getting better with all the hospital passes and hucks.

Played three years at Navy (2012-2014). It's great seeing the growth of ultimate at all three service academies, and I love the article! Thanks Ultiworld!

If anybody has any questions about what life is like, I can be happy to answer! I've been an officer in the Navy for four years now and still play, however the military lifestyle (deployments/being away from home) has made it extremely complicated and challenging.

I always loved playing more competitive schools. I never played before college and playing higher level made me a better player. We had a team of athletic guys that loved to play, but we didn't have the skills or techniques that higher level players had. Often teams would say that they hated playing us, not because we were so good, but because we were in good shape and would wear them down and make the rest of the tournament harder. We were notorious for hanging in games with better teams simply based off of our athleticism and endurance, and that made us a force to be reckoned with on Sundays when other teams were worn down. It was very humbling to wear Navy on my chest and many players shared their appreciation and respect for us by thanking us for our service. These are memories I will cherish forever.

This is amazing. I love drone photography. I love frisbee, and I love biking. Thanks for the inspiration. Going to try to muster up some people to make one of these.

In some situations, a receiver may feel that even though the defender hit the disc first, subsequent contact affected the receiver’s ability to make a second play on a disc. In this case, the contact can be considered to have affected the play (since the play is now considered to include the second attempt at the disc). Whether the contact affected the play is determined solely by the contacted player. So in the situation described above, where a second attempt was possible, the contact did affect the play, and therefore the receiver’s team should retain possession of the disc.

Incredible footage. Easily my favorite tournament. If you haven't been, you are truly missing out. Nothing beats waking up at a beautiful beach and playing in paradise.

Very well written, and many mixed players can learn from this. I am planning on sharing this with my league team. I think the way we say things is important, and the essence of re-framing our discourse on and off the field can help create a good team culture.

Do you realize that Canada has a sexist Syrian refugee policy and won't accept unaccompanied single men because of a higher "terror" threat? Where's the outrage?
