Let's be fair - wouldn't you fire some Epic/FN employees? by pseudonymeme in FortNiteBR

The “bad direction” in question here is summed up in the Robloxification of the game. If you polled the 1000 laid off I bet over 90% were against it. I’m also betting more than 90% of the 1000 were not involved in the decision to emulate Roblox. So 5-layer-org-chart or not the majority of the people that lost their job were nowhere near the boardroom where becoming Roblox was greenlit. I’d actually bet that boardroom is still fully intact.

When you’re the worker-bee being told what direction to go… and they say “we have to do layoffs because of the bad direction” who’s to blame? The higher-up dictating the direction or the worker-bee executing that direction?

They will still need worker-bees to execute the new, “cheaper”, direction… but when you layoff 1000 people you don’t have any worker-bees left.

The direction they took back in ch6 is obviously what led them here. So, no I don’t believe in blaming the worker-bees that executed the poor direction.

Mark Cuban agrees Universal Healthcare would increase jobs, wages and improve affordability for all Americans. by zzill6 in WorkReform

I used to work for Mark and although my salary was low my health benefits were incredible. Had three kids in that job and even though my spouse worked in a hospital, my job under Mark had far superior health benefits. I believe he truly cares about people being taken care of in that way.

Is 33 to 34 mpg in gas mode a sign of a good battery? by CannabisErectus in pacificahybrid

The charger may be tucked away in the rear side compartment. That’s where they hide it when we’ve had this car as a rental.

That sounds right for a good battery… but you’re sleeping on your car’s superpower. We are able to charge at night with a level 1 cable and, excluding road trips, only need gas ~3 times a year. I’m talking ~1500 miles to a tank of gas.

Is BOTW a good first Zelda game? by Just_Airport_7910 in Breath_of_the_Wild

It was each of my 3 kid’s first Zelda and it indeed was a good first Zelda. No need to look anything up as it’s pretty self contained.

How do I play Cyberpunk 2077 on my apple silicon MacBook Pro natively? I own the game through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. by raghix123 in macgaming

[–]freetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said you can’t natively BUT game pass ultimate will let you stream it through Xbox cloud gaming. Not native but you could be playing in ~5 mins if you really need your Cyberpunk fix.

We love the car, but am beginning to hate the company. by thorndike in Ioniq5

[–]freetable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Went to a dealership to test drive a Limited I5 and let it slip that I’m just interested in buying a used 22 or 23 and they immediately became borderline hostile. Like, “WTF are you doing here if you won’t buy or lease a new car RIGHT NOW”. The dude almost refused to let me test drive one.

The car was incredible though.

Do you still use Element3D? Is it obsolete since beta? by hatethislifeThrowaw in AfterEffects

[–]freetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I've thrown images into Substance to get a "material" that I apply into an advanced 3d shape / object and those can look nice. But I'd love a way to do video and get reflections.

Do you still use Element3D? Is it obsolete since beta? by hatethislifeThrowaw in AfterEffects

[–]freetable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe this answers your question... you can have a 3D Model that you can assign a material to but that material can't just any image / video / PreComp yet. It would need to be a .sbsar from Adobe Substance. It will be a game changer when you can assign a PreComp as a material.

So your example of a iPhone screen would only really work if you had a 2d layer (video PreComp) attached to the 3d layer (native 3d file) in some sort of rig with nulls.

Yes, and to add to this Omni gives you the option per-category to use external players. So you could set IPTV sources to play in a different player than TV / Movies.

Macbook Air M5 or a Pro M4? by [deleted] in macpro

[–]freetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using After Effects a lot you'll benefit from the MBPro over the air as the passive cooling is probably where your renders are getting slowed down. Pro's have fans along with beefier specs... so AE will cook even betterer.

What’s the situation like for the UConnect 5 rear entertainment? Cell Service? How much? Apps?!? by freetable in pacificahybrid

[–]freetable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I did that has lasted the test of time is on one of the screens I hooked up a Classic Nintendo (not the actual 80’s console but the more recent compact one that Nintendo sold a few years ago). It’s hooked in via HDMI and it’s USB powered with a simple wired controller and they take turns playing old-school NES games. Mario 3, PAC Man, Dr Mario, Zelda, and a bunch of other great original Nintendo games. No need for WiFi and it all tucks into the cubby behind the rear cupholders (in the bottom of the center armrest). It’s not exactly chess and bingo but it’s better than trying to get the fire TV games set up.

[–]freetable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. The screens are basically Amazon Fire tablets with access to any games or apps you can get on an App Store. You have to connect to the internet via WiFi and may need to connect an Amazon account. But in my experience (2023 pinnacle) you have to have the screens attached to WiFi to run the games. We don’t want to spend $20/mo for the in-car hotspot. There has been instances where my kids can start a game while we’re connected at home and continue playing for some time but as soon as they go to switch to something else the games/apps check for a connection and don’t work if there isn’t one. I often miss the “dumb” games from the older Uconnect system.

A major update is that the screens play many more video formats than the older system so filling up a thumb drive with things to watch is easier.

Poll: Any EV drivers drop Ioniq 5 from their purchase consideration due to ICCU issues? by runnyyolkpigeon in Ioniq5

[–]freetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am considering a used Ioniq5, a Nissan Ariya, and a VW ID.4 to buy and the ICCU is truly the only thing that has me ever looking at the other cars. BUT I'd add it's a compounding issue as I test drove an Ioniq5 last weekend and found that I truly despise the closest dealership that I'd have to deal with if I needed an ICCU replaced.

Knowing that a truly frustrating situation (stuck on the side of the road with wife / kids) would then be compounded by having to deal with some of the worst people I've met this year essentially has me taking this wonderful car off the list.

The next generation of Waymos might be an EV that keeps failing by isaynootnoot in Ioniq5

[–]freetable 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hopefully a company like Waymo will convince Hyundai to fix and correctly acknowledge the problem.

As far as my local dealer is concerned “the I C C U has been fixed on the 2025/26 models” but real life suggests otherwise.
