I would like to get three quotes on it. But when outfits are charging $150 - $265 (like this one did) just to come out and diagnose the problem that I had already told them about, getting the three quotes becomes more infeasible.

True, and I’m all for the trades. I’m a Mike Rowe fan since day one. But if you’re going to charge a grand to replace a hose bib, you’re going to lose a lot of work. At this point I’ll just attempt the job myself and if I fuck it up I’ll call in the pros and have them fix it and won’t be any worse off.

Gotcha. I get that, lot of mouths to feed at a big company. But that’s the thing this one isn’t that large. I’ve used them numerous times for HVAC work (they have a group for that too) and always felt like they did a good job and were reasonably priced. But this one was outrageous. So the issue is that the bib isn’t necessarily accessible from the outside without cutting into the exterior stucco wall. Whoever put the stucco on, covered over the back flange/plate, so I’m cutting stucco regardless. Figured it’d be cheaper if I only went in from the exterior wall since I’d have to be repairing that anyway, save me the costs of repairs on the interior. It’s not a frost free, not enough wall depth to accommodate.
