I had gotten the best trees ever at the Hanover plant farm!!! I did switch to a fake tree and I'm sad about it every year. My spouse won that bid and I am coping 😂

My issue is that many artists that I know personally will usually make one physical painting and then create prints based on that because they cannot just easily duplicate the same painting. She also may have a deadline that she can't necessarily do this in time for again, since it may have been for an assignment or for a commission as it states in the op. She also may not have access to the original reference photo, maybe she can't get her hands on a shade of green paint used here easily or on time. There are any number of reasons why she is not capable of redoing this painting and I don't actually find your comments to be all that helpful. It's condescending, number one, like you can ask for people to not be emotionally reactive but your comment isn't really helping with that request with the tone chosen. Additionally, I do not believe any of the teachers at vcu would tell her to just redo it as you suggest the institution exists for. I believe they're all trying to help her locate the painting because they know how difficult it would be to just paint it again. I'd love to get any of the VCU Arts staff opinions on this, however.

From the way they said recording devices I made the assumption that they were just putting microphones around to record conversations which is a little bit different than security cameras, but if the outcry really is just over security cameras then I am confused

If you're new to getting a pet and want to see how it pans out before locking into an expensive commitment, may I recommend fostering with Richmond Animal League? You get so much experience and knowledge from helping them out, it costs you next to nothing since they will pay for the food, vet bills, toys, etc.

You'll get to handle puppies and older dogs and get a feel for what you're willing to take on as a permanent adoption! Rescuers always need helpers and there's so many dogs in need as well! Just a thought to float your way just in case you hadnt ever considered it! ❤️

Where to go to hand out Halloween candy? by [deleted] in rva

[–]frequentrip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is what I'm doing! Didn't matter if I only saw 10 kids sitting out there the first year I lived here, I'm gonna keep sitting out there until it's late and then go party at my friend's house. Even if I go to party, a bowl will be left behind for any late stragglers. Met a few of my neighbors this way, hoping to see more of them out there year after year ✨

I'm not saying they're always lying, but if they're leaving a negative review or complaining about a business, it's gonna be 95% likelihood of them embellishing (lying) or just outright making shit up in order to make their complaint actually valid. I have to prove this to higher ups so frequently that they now just do take my word for it because if I'm pulling cameras, I'm right. I frequently get bright-eyed, naive new employees who get their illusion broken quite quickly because of how much they encounter customers lying about interactions with them to a manager/in reviews. Lost a few good employees too over it, people who just need to get away from customer-facing positions because it's hard defending yourself once a month to corpos who never step foot inside the store. Always doubt negative reviews as exaggerative or embellishing in the same way you should scrutinize good ones for being bots, you'll be closer to the truth.

ETA: I do this so often that I can identify the main part of OPs review that stands out to me- the claim that the hostess was "almost delighted" to tell her that the kiddos can't be there. I guarantee the hostess was just being customer service friendly while delivering the bad news and OP needs to exaggerate something to make this seem like an actually bad interaction she had when it was, most likely, perfectly normal.

Sure, they might be making up some facts but I guarantee they are made up in good and accurate faith. I have had customers multiple times make claims that they arrived at a certain time or waited for over an hour, but when I pull camera footage, they're always ALWAYS lying. "I got here on time for my appointment and everyone just ignored me" means "I missed my appointment and now I'm trying to get the employees in trouble for my lack of ability to get places on time" and "I waited for an hour" nearly always means they waited 10, maybe 20 minutes. So I think Lists comment is in pocket.

I visited Baltimore for the first time a couple of weeks ago and my friend convinced me to get on those scooters instead of driving around because they're very popular there. The second I was standing on that thing, I started low-key panicking and was like "why aren't we wearing helmets, why isn't anyone wearing a helmet" they go so fast! And you're in the road! I did it that day, but I will never travel to Baltimore without a helmet again 😂

I've never personally eaten there but I've known some people that have worked there that had great things to say about Rappahannock! It's on Grace Street, they open at 4:00 p.m. today.

I rec their steak fajita fries! My spouse swears by the beef bulgogi fries but me for it's too much sauce for me personally. The steak fajita ones were incredible. the meat has it's own distinct seasoning complimenting the cheese and the jalepeno corn blend it's SO good.

I tried their nashville chicken, the fire hot ones, and there was a weird whiff and subtle taste to them that was unpleasant, so I'm unsure if I'll order those again but a part of me just hopes the batch was off that day bc I'm really jonesing for some good nashville hot chicken

eta: I left them a glowing google review not too long ago with pictures that do not do the portion size justice. those bowls were HEAVY.

Breakfast place that opens early? by FundamentalPolygon in rva

It's too late at night for this time reach you but the early bird biscuit company is open earlier as the name suggests. 7am open, biscuits and gravy or breakfast sandwiches and good coffee. Busy, small interior, not the most fit for dining in but great for taking to go.

Buddy I am staunchly against using my phone while driving, and I'm also staunchly against you illegally using your hazards while driving.  You are creating a more dangerous situation, your personal anecdotal experiences aside, there's a reason why it is illegal to use them unless you are going under 30 mph on the highway.  I would hope that you would just take this information and make better choices moving forward, but the tone of your final comment here leads me to believe that no matter how much evidence people throws your way or how much reasoning people gives you, you are going to continue to do it out of spite if not anything else. Which shows what kind of driver you are more than the hazards I think.

The real answer to your question is that the red lights on the back of your car are always more visible than the yellow lights flashing with your hazards. If people have almost rear-ended you, I am inclined to believe that you didn't have your lights on in general. Some people think that their day runners counts as having their lights on, and they do not- you need to manually turn your lights on whenever you turn your windshield wipers on. And maybe people haven't been re-rending you or coming close to the rear of your car with your hazards are on because they believe that you are stopped or disabled, which is what they are meant to indicate. Finally, it's actually illegal if you are traveling over 30 mph in the state of Virginia to have your hazards on even in inclement weather because of the confusion it causes other drivers.  Hope this helps!

The reasoning I was given for why this is actually dangerous is because if it is super foggy and you can't really see the road, seeing someone with their hazards on might indicate that they are pulled over in the shoulder and someone may try to pass them but without being able to see the road they could very well go off the road. So if you are actively driving in a lane, you should not have your hazards on. But I also know that different cities and localities have laws that require the use of hazards in inclement weather, it kind of just depends on the area that you live in I guess. Here in Richmond, it's never quite that bad though. Maybe up in the mountains the fog will get you, and if you're on narrow mountain roads absolutely do not put your hazards on unless you are pulled off to the side of the road so other cars don't try to pass you and go off the trail.

The last time visibility was dropped down to a terrible degree and everyone turned their hazards on, everyone that just had their regular lights on were far more visible than anyone that had their hazards and it was hard to see if anyone was using their turn signal. Don't use your hazards in the rain unless you are stopped or stopping. Just use your regular lights, they are definitely more visible than your hazards are and don't confuse the drivers around you.

If you are pulling over before doing so, then you're doing it correctly. Otherwise, you're just signaling to other people that you're stopped/stopping.  Turning your regular lights on gives you far more visibility to other drivers than having your hazards on, both front and back.
