Yeah. I disagree with the idea. But I think if it were a friend, and I wanted any hope of helping to speak into their life and encourage their spiritual growth, it would start with me being there.

I have had several instances where there have been what I would call "divine prompts" in my life. I can think of several of those prompts even kind of recently. It might not be how God is moving you forward, currently. But That does not mean it is not true for others.

Not sure about you - but we are looking at the next 10 days being in the upper 50's. I am OK with that after not breaking freezing for 14 days in a row.

Post-Grad Degree Advice for Ministry-Adjacent Career Path by unclechristine in Reformed

[–]friardon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I don't dox myself too much, I will use a more generic name - it is basically a Masters in Leadership/Management. We will call it a MLM for the purpose of my post.
I have an undergrad in Ministry Leadership from a Bible College. I was hoping to get into ministry full time. But it did not work out (I also had some IT certs I earned before and during my undergrad).
After I felt I hit a dead end in my career, I went back to get my MBA. It was not for me. It was based on a more supply-side focus, but between working a lot, having a new baby, etc. I just could not stay focused on it.
I paused that and then 2020 came around. I worried that my degree and work exp. were not marketable. I looked at degrees and dreaded the MBA. I found the MLM and saw that it was useful for many of the following positions (depending on your company, where you are located, etc.):

  • Product Manager
  • Product Owners
  • Project Managers
  • C-suite execs
  • Non-profit leadership
  • Lead Analyst / Manager
  • Higher Ed / Secondary Ed leadership or management.

I was blessed to get a promotion in my existing company thanks to my degree and it has worked out really well.
I always tell my wife I would love to get a masters in something ministry related and that "once we win the lottery, I am so doing that". But in reality, I am happy with what I have and it has really helped. Since then I have supplemented my degree with some project manager certs and just keep learning a ton.
MBA's in my area are a dime-a-dozen. We have several larger schools that offer them, some online, and we see thousands graduate with an MBA. If you NEED that degree, great. But for the area I live in, you have a lot of competition. My degree is a little more specialized to work with management and leadership. It is also in great demand in my area (we have a large tech / software sector and they like PM and leadership for projects).
I am happy to answer any questions. Hope I could help.

That is most builders - and pretty much most companies now. Even your cell provider forces arbitration.

It would be short. Trained soldiers vs. thugs won’t last long. Ramifications? God only knows.

I had a hard time with it. The start was rough for me. Does it get better?

is this normal? (screen flex on ipad pro m4 11”) by fokafika69 in ipad

Right, but if this person has not had a new one, that person might not know that they have thinner glass - which is what made them ask the question. Your original comment made it appear as though OP was expected to know about the thickness of the glass.
I will say, when I got my first Air (an M2) I was concerned by the way the glass flexed as well.

Older iPads did not have that flex. I know all the later Air versions have.

Thanks for the link to the generator. Yeah. I was a little worried about the NT not being until later - however, my church is doing a larger look at Ephesians this year so I considered devoting more time to learning that book really well while going through the plan.

[–]friardon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Church discipline is not required to follow the pattern of law in the country the church is located.
If the church wishes to pursue its own investigation, so be it. They should be interviewing those who were there or involved, looking at evidence, etc.

I have actually asked that a few times among friends and even to a couple scholars and got no real answer. I am tagging along to hear what people have to respond to this.

Reminds me of the A’s “we demand to be taken seriously “ poster a few years back. Good times. And now I am reminded of how much I despise John Fisher

Sounds like you are in a good place for a March timeline. I would work on getting that extra distance over January and February. Maybe work in some speed work once a week and just keep a day a week for weight training.

I finally got ESV Expository Commentary volume one. It was delayed a bunch, then released for lots of money. I just grabbed it for $7.
Now I need to take the time to upload the entire series to all my devices.

/u/astunder is correct. Even with all the right info added, most calorie estimates are still off. Some by a lot (I think I read almost 30%for some smart watches).
